Choose a topic of study that will include a multiple correlation between 3 or more variables.
1. Collect at least 3 variables from at least 6 individuals.
2. Identify the dependent variable and the independent variables.
3. What is the regression line?
4. Test the significance of the correlation between the variables
5. Choose enough independent variables to make a prediction of the dependent variable associated with them. (assign values to each of your independent variables)
6. What is the coefficient of multiple determination. and non determination.
1. Suppose the researcher is interested in predicting the amount of time required by the route driver .
Consider the following data set:
2. Here y is dependent variable and x1, x2 are the independnt variables.
Suppose we want to y for x1 = 8, and x2 = 530
3. Let's use minitab:
Multiple regression using minitab:
Step 1) First enter the given data set in minitab columns.
Step 2) Click on Stat>>>Regression>>>General regression...
Response: select y
Model: select x1 and x2
Step 3) Click on Prediction
in "New observation for continuous predictors:
we want to predict y for given x1 = 8 and x2 = 530
So put 8 then space and then put 530
Select confidence limits:
and prediction limits
Then click on OK
then click on Option.
Confidence level for all interval: put 95
Types of confidence interval: Two-sided.
then click on OK and again Click on OK
So we get the following minitab output
From the above output the regression line is as follow:
y = 2.34123 + 1.61591 x1 + 0.0143848 x2
5. From the above output the fitted vaalue of y for given x1 = 8 and x2 = 530 is as follows
= 79.24 minuts.
6 ) Coefficient of multiple determination = R-square = 95.96% = 0.9596
Coefficient of non determination = 100 - 95.96 = 4.04% = 0.0404
