Name two of the most common viruses to cause the stomach flu.
b. What is the most common route of transmission?
c. What are the symptoms? What is the treatment?
d. How does the stomach flu caused by a virus differ from one caused by bacteria?
viral gastritis is gastritis caused
by virus, most common 2 viruses are:
1.norovirus-is common in children
2.rotavirus- common in children and adullts.
Symptoms;
diarrhea
nausea
vomiting
abdominal pain
fever
headache
other diarrhea related signs and symptoms like dehydration, dry
skin,dry mouth
Treatment:
no specific drugs for this infection ,treat the nausea and vomiting
by promethazine(phenergan),prochlorperazine or ondansteron.
requires hygeinic practices to prevent the spreading of the
disease.
viral gastritis is differ from bacterial gastritis ,
where viral gastritis is caused by contaminated food and
water.usually the mode of trasmission is fecal -oral route.direct
contact with the virus presenting source, or food contaminated with
fecal or vomiting or person who is havig infection handling the
food and water with unhygeinic practices. etc.
but bacterial flu is caused by the cross cintamination, here harmful
bacteria transfer fro one source to another.bacteria cansurvive at
hot cool environment,so it survives outside and produce poisonous
substances and causes to infection.
