Your store has been a little slow lately so you have decided to do some short term incentives to encourage more people to come to your store. What is sales promotion? Describe three sales promotional tools you might use to attract customers to your business?
Sales promotion
Sales promotion is the marketing strategy in which the product is
promoted by using some short-term attractive schemes. It is the
process of persuading the potential customer and to increase the
sales. These short term incentives are used to encourage more
people to come. It is aimed to stimulate demand of particular
products and it also helps in increasing brand awareness.
Sales promotional tools
1) Samples
A small quantity of product is send door-to-door personally or as a
gift with other product etc. It is sent at free of cost or at a
minimum price. These encourage trial and increase awareness of
product.
2) Coupons
A coupon is the ticket or the document which can be used for a
discount or a rebate while purchasing a product. These are used to
attract customers and increase sales at the store.
3) Price packs
It is the sales promotion tool in which consumers are provided with
a reduced price which is marked directly on product. Combination of
two or more products can also be given at a price of one or at the
discounted rates.
Example- Two bottles of shampoo are sold at the price of
one.
