1-what is oral rehydration therapy .

Oral rehydration therapy (ORT) is the fluid replacement therapy aimed at the treatment of dehydration.It consist of salt and sugar based solutions taken orally to treat dehydration from diarrhea.

2- why would a doctor prescribe it ?

Doctor prescribe ORT for the treatment of dehydration from diarrhoea.Egs diseases like cholera and dysentery.It is cheap,simple,easy ,fast and effective way of treating dehydration and mineral loss.ORS solution contains all the main elements which is lost during a diarrhea.

3- what solutions are used ?

A basic oral rehydration therapy as per WHO  includes.Homemade ORS consisting of one liter water with one teaspoon salt (3 grams) and two tablespoons sugar (18 grams) added.

Glucose,anhydrous 13.5
potassium chloride 1.5
Trisodium citrate,dihydrate 2.9
