Project Professional 2016:

Microsoft Project Professional is considered to be a mid range tool.It is the only one of Microsoft's offerings in the project management realm as of 2016.Microsoft project is the world's most popular project management software developed and sold by Microsoft.The application is designed to assist project managers in developing plans,assigning resources to tasks,tracking progress,managing budgets and analyzing workloads.It includes all capabilities in project standard 2016 as well as collaboration capabilities to quickly start and deliver projects while leveraging the power of office 365 or share point to work from virtually anywhere.

A guide for using project professional 2016 is available,because of the text focuses on the work done by project managers and the software is available as free trial.The project professional available before 2016 is project professional 2013.It includes Microsoft word ,Excel,Power point ,Out look,One note,Publisher,Access,Infopath,and Link.Many new features are available in project profession 2016 over 2013.

One of the new feature available in 2016 is that a tab on the ribbon called "Tell me what you want to do",in this text field where you can enter words and phrases related to what you want to do next and quickly get to features you want to use or actions you want to perform.with project 2016 not only one can leverage multiple timelines to illustrate different phases or categories of work,but you can also set the start and end states of each timeline separately,to paint a clearer overall picture of the work involved.

It have better control over resource scheduling ,that is some resource have limited availability, and may have their time scheduled by a resource manager .with project professional 2016 and project online ,project managers and resource managers can negotiate an agreement called a resource engagement , to make sure that resources are being used appropriately and effectively throughout the organization.

There are three new office themes that can we apply to project 2016 .They are

(1) colorful

(2) Dark Grey

(3) White

Before we are using a project management effectively we must understand the fundamental concepts of project management,such as creating a work break down structure,establishing dependencies between activities,entering duration estimates,assigning resources,and so on.

Let us briefly describe the following:

(a) All task duration and recurring task entered:

Duration includes the actual amount of time spent working on an activity plus elapsed time.Duration must not equal to effort.There are two types of scheduling they are :

(1) Automatic Scheduling: When you entered an item in the task name column ,it was automatically assigned a duration of one day and the start and finish dates are also automatically entered.

(2) Manual scheduling: The durations or dates are not automatically entered,and the summary task duration are not automatically calculated.    

The length of the task can be indicated by normally type a number and an appropriate duration symbols.The duration symbols are:

(1) d = days

(2) w = weeks

(3) m = minutes

(4) h = hours

(5) mo or mon = months

(6) ed = elapsed days

(7) ew = elapsed weeks

(b) Network diagram view:

The network diagrams are used to show the task dependencies.The tasks on the critical path will automatically be red in the network diagram view.You can also change the default settings for the network diagram view before printing it.

(c) Changing work hours of task:

There is also an option for change the work hours of the task, and can enter additional work hours.

(d) Earned value report:

Earned value management is an important project management technique for measuring project performance.You can view earned value information in project professional 2016 because you have entered actual information.Earned value reports using visuals reports feature are also viewed.

In my opinion the project professional 2016 is a good application provided by the Microsoft,as it provide many useful features to make it easy to integrate with other applications.some of the important features it provides are:

You can copy data between project professional and other applications,You can create hyper link to project document created in word, excel etc and you van also purchase and add new apps to project 2016 from Microsoft's office store.
