Question 6:

Option A – A treasury bond to finance government debt is not considered a bank qualified municipal security.

Treasury bonds or securities are issued by federal government to raise funds to run the operations of the federal government as well as to fund the federal debt whereas municipal bonds or securities are issued by local and state governments to fund local and state projects such as roads, schools, and other local infrastructure. Also, the term bank-qualified generally refers to a section of municipal securities that provide tax-benefits when purchased by commercial banks as introduced through the Tax Reform Act of 1986.

Except for Option A which is a treasury issued bond to cover government debt, all other securities provided in Option B, C, D, E are issued by local and state governments of San Macros, Chicopee, Columbia and Bucks County to pay for local and state projects related to street repairs, new city jail, fire department and sewer plant.
