I have to choose three areas in healthcare ethics that interest me but I am having a hard time because I want to connect it to the COVID-9 we are dealing with today legally and ethically. the subject is ethics and law administration
Healthcare ethics is the feild in which the moral principles and the ethics are understand and taken care of in the practical sense for the healthcare department. It is to make sure that every activity taking place in the healthcare department in this time of Covid-19 is to be ethical and nature follows the certain guidelines to make them moray correct. The 3 areas of interest for myself for the same feild would be:
1. Justice: Justice talks about the equality concept. Considering the case of Covid-19, we all know this disease doesn't come with any discriminational factor or it will only happen to rich or to poor people. This disease can happen to anyone who is in its contact with. Even the queen, presidents and other important celebrity are becoming and had became a target of this disease. And now so many people getting sick, what should healthcare departments do, take care of only the people who are rich and can pay for the resources? No. The idea of justice talks about the resources that should be distributed equally among all the groups of the society. It says that procedures and the laws should be fair to all the players who are involved in this area. Thus, even in this crises time, the healthcare department should consider 4 important areas: competing needs, fair distribution if resources, potential conflicts and the rights and obligations towards the resources. Often ethical dilemmas are created because people don't have money to access high tech services but still if two parties have the same access, no discrimination should be given to them and everyone should be treated equally in the eyes of the law as what is happening all around in the world.
2. Beneficence: It is not to be mentioned the covid warriors are the doctors and the policemen. They know they have the threat of getting infected still they are coming in front weaing such a heavy suit and treating patients without seeing their good. This all talks about the beneficence concept in which intent of good should always come up. The skills the doctors have , they knowledge they share and the experience they possess, makes the concept providing good to everyone more essential and meaningful even in this time.
3. Non- maleficence: At last, more or less like the concept
talked above, non maleficence talks about not having any intent to
harm the people. Again, the treatment they provide to the thousands
of patients all around the world locked up in rooms could be
anything, but still the treatment are the best quality ones the
health of the patients are important more than anything in this
scenario. No harm is being brought to them by any doctors or nurses
anyhow. No complaints or grudges, just the good services are being
provided by pursuing the greater good is the main concept and
idelogy of this area.
