How do respondents influence the design of the questionnaire? Provide (2) contrasting examples of questionnaire design based on two entirely different target markets. (You can select any two target markets of your choice.)
The questionnaires are designed to gather information. This purpose can be achieved only if the respondents respond to the questionnaire, i.e. provide their feedback or suggestions or reply to the questions asked. They can complete this task only if they understand the importance of the questionnaire, are capable of responding on the subject matter and effectively communicate. Thus, questionnaires are carefully designed so that the purpose of the same is achieved , i.e. as per the respondents requirement or suitability.
For example, while taking feedback from a customer with respect to the service received at the hotel. The questionnaire is in a simple form, i.e. a rating scale. The customer simply provides rating on a scale of 0 to 10. This requires less time and hence customer readily provides feedback.
Example 2 - while taking a marketing survey for designing new product. The company seeks for innovative ideas, may be some new flavors or some changes in the quality. This questionnaire needs to be more detailed . The respondents must be provided an opportunity to elaborate their thoughts and ideas.
