What can you do if the IRS revenue agent auditing is uncooperative or hostile?
There are thousands of agents in IRS, most of the agents are helpful but some may be not. If you find that actions of IRS agents are aggressive, you can find help in some methods, some are mentioned below -
1) If you are seeking help from agent by calling toll free number are you find that agent is uncooperative, you can call at some other time, you should get an agent at different center.
2) If you are at a local office and you feel that your case is handled inappropriately or your agent is not listening to the facts of your case, you can always ask to speak with the manager.
3) If you feel some kind of levy threat from the IRS agent's side, you can file Collection Appeal Request within 48 hours of the incident. To file Collection Appeal Request fill IRS form 9423 and mail it to IRS agent
4) File an alternate appeal, in this you will be discussing your case with appeals officer of anpther office. This is a good way to move your file off from a uncooperative agent
5) You can use the services of IRS Taxpayer's Advocate.
