Using an example of your own, explain the difference between the calculations ₈C₃ ₈P₃?
We Know that the Combinations are used for making selections and order does not matter while in permutation we make arrangements and order matters.
So I am taking an example If I am arranging a birthday party and there were a total of 8 friends are invited and there is a fun activity and winners win the prizes for the same and they have to sit in a row. Then I can use the permutation and combination for my calculation part.
For computing in how many ways the prizes are distributed we use combinations as the order does not matter and we have to just distribute the prizes.
Here n=8 and r=3
For computing, the seating arrangement for 8 people as order matters here so we can use permutation.
Here n=8 and r=3
Thus, we can say that there can be 56 ways to make a seating arrangement for the birthday party.
