when you need the components of the question above to grow a certain bacteria, and the bacteria grow in closed tubed in a closed dark, non-shaking incubator that is set at 54C, which definition correctly applies to these bacteria:
a. photo-heterotroph
b. halophile autotroph
c. heterotrophic thermophile
d. aerobic psychrophile
e. alkaliphilic acidophile
The answer say like this, but I can't understand about glucose. It is because of the non-shaking incubator?
The answer is heterotrophic thermophile.
Heterotrophs and autotrophs are groups, created based on how they gain nutrients or energy for metabolism.
Heterotrophic organisms are the organisms that grow in the presence of nutrients in their external environment.
Whereas, Autotrophic organisms synthesize nutrient molecules such as glucose in their body by the help of sunlight.
Glucose is a key molecule of the metabolic pathway because glucose provides most of the required energy and also its intermediates used in the different metabolic pathways to synthesize different required molecules.
in our case, the bacteria were grown in a dark condition so they won't be Autotrophic. Also mentioned is a closed tube, which means they are anaerobic. because in a closed tube ( there is a restriction of oxygen transfer from the environment).
Shaking incubator- Shaker condition applies for to increase the dissolved oxygen concentration in the medium ( or allowing bacterial cells to the surface of the medium so they can interact with air) By this aerobic bacteria will grow faster.
By means of non-shaking condition, usually preventing organisms to be exposed to the air. because oxygen is toxic for them.
Thermophilic organisms called thermophiles - They grow in the temperature range from 44 oC to 122 oC.
