After reading Primary Document—"The English Peasants’ Revolt,” answer the following questions:
What do the peasants demand? Be specific. Why do you think the king agrees to their demands? Why do you think the peasants willing to have a king, and instead direct their violence to the nobles?
The English Peasant Revolt started in the year 1381. When we dig up why did the revolt took place , then it get little complex and came across two factors which could have started the revolt.
1.The first reason can be because of Economics , during that time England was having a war with France and because of the war taxation was increased on the lower community which are peasants .
The second reason could be Soicla status, during that time the clergy, nobles and peasants were present . And peasants used to work them and nobles and clergymen used to enjoy the social advantages in economic , taxation , politics they were flourishing during that as they were getting all the advantages . So peasants demanded for equal rights . So this could be one evident reason .
2. The reason why did king agreed to their demands can vary from person to person as on their thinking . As per my knowledge king did not wanted more bloodshed and as there was many executions took place and the revolt was spread like fire in many European countries , so to stop the revolt and bring the life on track he might agreed to their demands.
3.Peasant were willing to have a king because the did not had a leader who could lead them in future , after the revolt . They wanted to be someone who can raise the voice of common people in front of nobles and guide them in tough time.
