This assignment will help you to identify career resources and explain how the skills and strategies you are learning can help you with your networking. Ch. 6 on careers can help provide you with ideas for needed resources. This week’s brief articles and video on the Electronic Reserve Reading page also provide helpful information. 1). When we are just starting it is obvious that we don't have our own connections yet so at this stage the most important people who can help build our professional and academic network is our family. Of we have to choose an academic career ahead our teachers and professors can guide us. They can suggest colleges, write recommendation and introduce with other in academic network. And once we have started working, our bosses and colleagues can really help us build a professional network. Friends can also play a significant role in building professional and academic network, once they are starting to join certain institutions they will have contacts too which can in turn introduced to us by our friends.
2). I would like to join psychological association for example to build up better connections and contacts in this field. Professional organizations can help us broaden our knowledge about latest studies, researches, development of industries, trends etc. Helps us to be better competitors. It can also help us make a better resume. Professional organizations can help us meet up with same mindset and focused people, creating a better networking and this can also help us to stay motivated and encouraged. This can also help us make new friends who have similar goals. Professional organizations also gives us an opportunity to develop our leardership skills by offering opportunities to mentor others, which can in turn help us in self growth.
4). Now a days social medias are powerful sources of information. We can laverale social media to improve our professional and academic network. Social media is where a lot of people can interact with each other very easily without having to arrange any contact or appointments. Mere browsing through the social medias we can help us come across many important and influential people. We don't need mediators to contact and make networks. We can show our works on our social media accounts too, seeing which the people we want to network with can recognize our works and potentials and this can help us grow in our professional career. Same goes for academic networking too. In similar ways we can showcase our potentials send our resumes through this to people who can help moving forward on the ladder.
