1.The text noted that there is an inverse relationship between the education of women and family size. Explain why this is the case in developing countries.
2. Why should the development of a solid elementary education system take precedence over an expansion of the university system in developing countries?
1. When the education of women increases, data from various countries has shown that the children that she bears reduces, which finally means that the family size will be smaller. This statement has been tested in developing and developed economies and the results have generally showed that a negative relationship between education of women and number of children holds true. Since the focus is on developing economies, this relationship can be examined by considering Ghana, it was observed that when the female education was high, the number of children they gave birth to was lesser and this would result in small families. It can therefore be concluded that developing economies can focus on increasing education opportunities for women so that the problem of overpopulation can be tackled.
2. There is a need for the development of elementary education system because children learn the basic essential skills in schools. If these skills and fundamentals are not strong, then the university education would not be fruitful. Data has shown that the developing economies investing in higher education has not led to the development of the countries which means that there is need to invest in the development of elementary education system. It was seen that a strong primary education system offers more gains than university education.
