We had discussed the possibility of judging if a person is ethical even if it is not possible to agree on what is ethical in a situation. An argument was that if we find that a person has integrity to the ethics principles s/he espouses under all circumstances, consistently, then we could say that person is ethical. Do you think that this criterion of integrity is sufficient for being ethical? State your position on this and make your arguments for your position.
please help me with ideas to write a paper about this... I need around 1000 words :( thanks
Ethics are basically the values, beliefs and opinions about the right and wrong. But as you mentioned there is some situation where it is difficult to choose what is ethical. But this is the situation where a person has to react ethically; this is the real test time for someone who is ethical.
I am giving you an example of your class, in which there is a test today and you are not prepared for the test as you are out of the town due to some personal reason. When the test starts you find that you don’t know the answers of any of the questions and you will definitely fail in the exam. Now, you also get a chance to cheat in the exam, if you cheat then it’s unethical and if you do not you will fail the exam. So, here comes the decision part. The real test in which you are being judged. It always remains the same.
So, Ethics are something on which we should be stuck in every situation where it's hard to be stuck.
When going gets tough tough gets going.
You can also learn from books and text on ethics. You will get more and better understanding as you read.
Happy learning
Nice to answer your question.
