Depending upon the manner in which a child was tended in their young age, there are different forms of attachment built in an individual. These attachment styles define how an adult or a person would be interacting with people close to him. Mostly when considering an adult, such forms of attachment could be viewed through the kind of romantic relationships they indulge in and their behavior in the same. An adult who is securely attached might display the following charachteristics:

• These are the kind of children who would become upset as their caregiver would go away from them. They often tend to seek comfort and care from their caregiver or their parent.
• when such children grow up to be adults, it has been noticed that they would be greatly empathetic.
• an adult with secure attachment would be more mature than children of avoidant attachment styles or ambivalent attachment styles.
• also, these adults would be less aggressive and less disruptive.
• their relationships are often lasting and trusting. They would also be displaying good self esteem.
• they would be good at seeking support from their social groups.
