A home entertainment system, specifically a home theatre can undoubtedly enhance one's music listening and movie watching experience if installed in a proper way. Selecting proper components for this purpose depends on your room size.

The most important component of a home theatre is the set of speakers that gives a surround sound effect just like that of in an actual movie hall. Depending on your room size and your budget, you can select between 3.1 speaker or 5.1 speakers. The difference between 3.1 and 5.1 system is nothing but the number of speakers. In a 3.1 system, there are three speakers - at left, right and at centre and a subwoofer while in a5.1 system, there are two front spekers, two rear speakers, a speaker at the centre and a subwoofer. Thus a 5.1 speaker gives a surround sound effect. You may also consider to add the Dolby atmos speakers into the system which gives actual 3D sound, where any sound can hover at any point in space.So basically, selecting the speaker system is the primary requirement of setting up a home theatre.

After selecting speaker system, you will need a Audio/Visual (AV) receiver to connect your speakers, video input, and the display device. It is the most important operational hub of your home theater system. The number of channels on a receiver depends on the number of input and output connections to be made from it.

Now that the audio part and the main brain of the system is set, the next important component is the display unit, i.e. the TV or a projector and screen. For good picture quality , you can go with the most upgraded technologies 4k Ultra HD TVS or OLED diplays. In order to have a real feel of movie hall, you can also chhose to have a long white screen on one of your walls with a good projector facing it. The newest 4K projectors are razor sharp and whisper quiet. Typically, the projector is installed in the ceiling at the rear of the room, and the screen remains stationary.

Apart from the regular set-top box, your video sources may come from Blu-ray players and 4K media players that you have to install seperately. or you may consider to play your favorite movie from your smart TV (in case you have installed it as your display unit). So depending upon your requirement, select and install a  media player for streaming music and movies.

Last but not the least, some electrical components can really act as add-on to this experience and make it even better and long lasting. The amplifiers and preamp can amplifity the sound for better experience.
