You are the chief of police of a suburban agency of 50,000 residents. The former chief had been in the position for nearly twenty years and believed that appropriate communication with the community was via the community’s elected representatives—the city council. The five programs I Might consider for effective communication with the resident of the community is gi en below:

  1. The former chief who is been in the position From the previous twenty years is using communication with the community via the city council. I will also consider this as a means for communication because if the result were not fruitful the former chief definitely may not adopt this strategy for this much longer.
  2. Of course, the city council may be vigilant to every issue and problem of the residents, many issues which are particular to the specific community or area may be neglected while considering the common problem of the city. Hence, the city will be divided into smaller areas, and heads of the areas will be directly used for communication for knowing their problems towards the security.
  3. Nowadays media is playing a major role in exposing the problems facing by the general public which even not able to identify any public authority or local leaders. Obtaining, frequent data and inputs from different local media and also made the people aware of actions taken to prevent their problems via media itself is also a good strategy of maintaining communication indirectly with the residents.
  4. A program will be prepared that every week/day as feasible for specific duration residents of the different area will be allowed directly to meet their area, police officers for informing regarding their problems, in turn, problems will be passed on to Chief for finding out the suitable solution,
  5. In addition to the communication via the city council will randomly visit the different areas at frequent intervals to directly interact with heads of the areas and residents.
