Explain the design principles ‘less is more’ and ‘form follows function’ and give an example of a design that uses each principle.
The design principles "less is more" and "form follows function" have different use in design process.
Given an example of "less is more" principal that, for the construction of L shaped building, mainly for the design calculatation the depth whatever is coming, we alwys taken more depth from the calculated or for the area of steel required calculatio whateve may be the area is come we have to take more value, or if area is coming less we have to take much value.
And for "form follows the function" means, we can see most number of the building is constructed with L shaped building because of less space and high utility required, and where wind speed is more high, this L shaped is converted into C shaped building. Another example, if there is less load in column, square shaped column is made in structure, if ecentric load is high, rectangular shaped is preferable due to high depth achieved so high capacity and less space required.
