Do you think there should be unemployment compensation? (Another form of income distribution)
Why or why not?
Dear Student,
Yes deinatly there should be unemployment compensation, due to following reason :
Unemployment insurance is a joint federal-state program that provides temporary benefit payments to employees who are out of work through no fault of their own, until they can find another job. These days, finding another job is no small feat: Many workers have found themselves out of work for up to a year or more.
The U.S. Department of Labor's Unemployment Insurance program is funded through unemployment insurance taxes paid by employers and collected by the state and federal government.
The amount you receive depends on your weekly earnings prior to being laid off and on the maximum amount of unemployment benefits paid to each worker. In many states, you will be compensated for half of your earnings, up to a certain maximum. Benefits usually are paid for a maximum of 26 weeks
Due to prolonged joblessness in the recession, Congress implemented full federal funding for Extended Benefits in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that provide between 13 and 20 additional weeks of unemployment benefits to the long-term unemployed. It expires at the end of the month.
