The environment and economic growth: can we have a sustainable growth and protect the environment in the same time?
Sustainable development is growth that meets the present needs, without undermining future generations 'capacity to meet their own needs. Sustainable development has continued to grow as that of protecting the resources of the planet while its true goal is to manage the resources of the earth. Environmentally sustainable economic growth refers to economic development that meets the needs of everyone, while leaving fewer natural resources for future generations than those we enjoy today.
The purpose of this type of growth is a healthy relationship between human activities and the natural environment, which does not diminish prospects of enjoying a quality of life at least as good as ours for future generations.
The notion of balanced economic development for the world isn't new. Many cultures have recognized the need for peace between the climate, community and economy over the course of human history. The 'environmentally sustainable economic growth' is synonymous with the 'sustainable development' term that is prevalent. Its aim is to achieve a balance / harmony between sustainability of the environment, economic sustainability and socio-political sustainability.
One issue facing environmental managers, however, is that the objective of sustainable development is not completely developed, and its basic principles are still being debated. Sustainable development is not easily described, as is environmental management.
