" Over the centuries, there have been many attempts by religious philosophers to prove the existence of God, and a canon of classic arguments has been developed. Not all of these arguments have their origins in Christian philosophy; Jewish and Muslim philosophers have made significant contributions to the philosophy of religion, and both Plato and Aristotle have influenced its development" (Holt,T.)(2010) The response that Augustine had was " that God will make our resurrection counterparts by reassembling precisely the pieces of matter of which we are made." (Holt,T)(2010) For the Christian theology the Christians believe "According to the Christian tradition, the dead will eventually be raised, judged, and either punished for misdeeds or declared righteous and welcomed into heaven." (Holt,T)(2010) So both of these religions have sort of the same concept of what they think will happen in the afterlife.
Belief in life after death is a common belief that exists in almost all religions of this world and the other general notion is of reward and punishment according to one's deed during the life time on earth. Thus, the belief of heaven and hell is not particular to Christian philosophy, but also, is present in Muslim and Jewish philosophy. These religions insist that those who are righteous during their earthly life will be rewarded and will have an everlasting in heaven, and those who have lead an unrighteous earthly life , will be punished and dwell in heaven forever with tormentations. This notion of reward and punishment has inspired the believers to live a righteous life as possible as they can, and seek forgiveness whenever, they realize they have astrayed from the path of righteousness. Thus, these notions have controlled the life of believers of these faith for centuries and generations.
