Solve the following problems:
(a) Show that any polarization state can be converted into a
linearly polarized state by using a quarter-wave plate.
(b) Calculate the output polarization state (in Jones’ vector) for
an input field (x-polarized) first going through a half-wave
plate with the fast axis oriented at and a quarter-wave plate with
fast axis oriented at
respect to y-axis.
