AS FOR GIVEN DATA...

Let me take the major as Marketing and then try to answer the questions asked.

Let me take a relationship in Marketing. Suppose we take the Hypothesis as under:

Null Hypothesis: H0: A display advertisement on the partner website for a credit card will increase the sales of the credit card in the current financial year.

Alternate Hypothesis: H1: H0 is not true

Here looking at the hypothesis or the premises we make, we can clearly see the following things :

Dependent Variable: This is the variable which is dependent and decided by the factors/variables given in the hypothesis. Here we can clearly see that Sales of the credit cards is something which is dependent variable and decided by the Display ad campaign in the hypothesis.

Independent Variable: We know that the presence of Display advertisement for the Credit card does not depend on anything else and is free to set. It rather impacts the other variables in our hypothesis. Thus, Presence of the display advertisement for the Credit Card on the website is simply independent variable in this case.

Impact: A display advertisement will attract more people to the credit card pages on a website and thus there will be an increase in the sales of the credit cards.
