Recruitment channels
The company AGE limited intends to hire five graduate trainees for software development and customer service. To hire them, certain recruitment channels are better suited than other channels to employ. As the company is looking to hire trainees, it should choose a campus selection channel to hire these graduates. Trainee positions are suitable for fresh graduates who seek to learn different aspects of work. Therefore, campus selection can provide a very good opportunity to locate skilled candidates for the trainees’ position. Moreover, the campus placement is an inexpensive way for selecting right candidates. Another recruitment channel is the career site of the company, where it can place requirements for hiring the trainees. It is also a cost-effective way to find prospective employees. The next way to locate these fresh trainees is through employees’ referrals. The employees should be asked to refer those candidates whom they know well and believe that they can deliver the objectives of work. Employees’ referral can also ensure finding a better candidate for the positions, as the employees are already familiar with the work culture and the work processes.
Selection methods
As far as the selection methods are concerned, the supervisor should ask to submit CVs from candidates or ask candidates to fill up the application forms. It is better for the organization to prepare the application form as the application form can be customized according to the needs of the organization and specific inquiries can be placed by recruiters to obtain detailed information from candidates. The next selection tool to be used by the supervisor is online screening of those prospective candidates who send their CVs or fill up forms online. In this way, the supervisor can ensure that only knowledgeable candidates are called for an interview. Next, to select best candidates, a face to face interview should be arranged. This face to face interview allows interviewer or supervisor to know in detail about the personality of the candidate. The interviewer can know the level of soft skills practiced by candidates for customer service position. Interviewer can also know the ability of candidate to develop software programs. It is also recommended to the supervisor to conduct a psychometric testing. This testing can be helpful to know the cognitive ability and aptitude ability of the candidates. As the position requires trainees, aptitude ability that reveals a learning ability of the candidate matters and therefore, this test is recommended to select the candidates. These selection methods can ensure that right candidates are selected for software development and customer service positions.
