Expert Solution

Y-axis represents pressure, as we go up the y-axis pressure increases. X-axis represents temperature which increases as we move from left to right.

Sublimation is the process of conversion of a solid to gas phase without getting converted to liquid phase. According to the question, pressure is reduced during sublimation, i.e. in the process of conversion of solid to gas (directly without conversion to liquid) the pressure is decreased. So options B and C are wrong as the arrow in these represents conversion from solid to liquid and solid to gas respectively at a constant pressure (arrow parallel to X-axis at a particular pressure). Option D is also incorrect as the arrow represents conversion from gas to solid at increasing pressure (arrow goes up). In option A, arrow represents decrease in pressure (arrow goes down) and conversion from solid to gas. So A is the correct option.
