ECON 3030-Economics & Sports
What are the primary benefits and costs to institutions that play big time sports? According to Roger Noll, small schools invest a significant share of their resources in sports programs as well. Why?
Big time sports has been a popular and problematic part of
American education for almost a centaury. The challenges faced by
the academic values have been in highlight from the beginning, but
the probl3ms have grown more in recent times, commercial
opportunities and athletic budget for the institutions have been
increased.
A students work ethics are shown when he participates in college
sports and balance the time between the sports practice,
entertainment and maintaining a top rank in academics. A lot of
students in America invest their time and hard work in a college
sports team and being able to balance the time well.
The theory of Roger Noll, predicts that the students on margin of
their high school team should not invest a whole lot on his
abilities. It also predicts that the parental investment should
always track the students talents closely. Lot of investments of
the students are in sports and not likely to earn scholarships a
youth is mist likely to quit.
