Explain the assumptions that arose from harry S Truman's doctrine and indicate the effects of these assumptions on Africa's development

According to Truman, US would give assistance in the field of economy, military and politics to those democratic countries (Example: Greece and Turkey) who face threat of authoritarian force from internal as well as external. This doctrine helps in the re orientation of US foreign policy by making them to involve directly in the issue. Truman arranged $400 billion as an emergency assistance.The whole Western Europe accepted the doctrine soon. Hence, revival of a working economy has been done. Through which, an environment where the political as well as social conditions allows existence of free institutions.

The result was the end of Greek revolt. NATO was formed then. Turkey and Greece became part of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Hence, military alliance has been made.Siviet communism came to an end. Truman's doctrine became the base for Foreign Policy of America. It became the foundation of American cold war. The doctrine is still in use.
