What are the practical applications of numerical methods. Give all and explain briefly each.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The following are the practical applications of numerical methods

1)They are useful in solving nonlinear equation by using methods like bisection method or Newton raphson method when we cannot find the roots of an equation or if they are difficult to find

2) Numerical methods are used in interpolation of a polynomial to get any values in between a table of values, for this we can use methods like Lagranges interpolation

3) Areas can be found easily by numerical methods like Simpsons rule, which approximate the area which is easy and simple to use and we arrive at the area quickly when compared to other methods

4) Various differential equations which are obtained from real life situations like various equations of fluids, equations of wind force ,drag force etc.. can be easily solved by numerical methods when compared to solving by various methods

5) Various data can be visualised using numerical methods and trends in this data can be observed to analyse predict and solve many problems
