Lev, Beaver, Revsine and Watts each discuss the nature of the capital market and stakeholders relevant to the firm in conjunction with different approaches to financial reporting disclosures.   Based on their discussion, the knowledge that earnings management occurs (Dechow and Skinner, 2000 and Nelson et al, 2003) and other readings you have done, what are the benefits and drawbacks to have more or less rigid financial reporting rules? In which direction should standard setters move (more or less rigid) over the next several years?

  1. In the pine tree forest, the probability that a randomly chosen tree is a high producer, that is, it has more than 60 cones, is 0.46.
  1. If a forester selects trees until he finds one that is a high producer, what is the probability that he selects more than 2 trees?
  2. Suppose the forest contains 2000 trees, use a normal approximation to find the probability that fewer than 950 of them are high producers.
  3. Use software ( a calculator) to find the probability in b exactly. Compare your results.

A two-year project has been evaluated and has an NPV on an after tax basis of -$2000. On reviewing the analysis the Finance Manager found that depreciation had been omitted from the tax analysis. The allowable depreciation for tax purposes is $5000 for each year. Using a tax rate of 30% and and a discount rate after tax of 12% pa, determine the correct NPV for the project (to the nearest dollar).

Can someone help me to solve this and explain the method to me?

Thanks!

The table shows the relationship between the production and the export of rice in vietnam from 1985 to 2000.

How much rice would you expect Vietnam to export in 2015 if the production that year is 4225000 tonnes?

How can use a scatter plot to find the linear model

How can you use your model to make a prediction?

Using the column interaction diagrams in Appendix A (Concrete strength = 5 ksi, steel reinforcement yield strength= 60 ksi,) with longitudinal reinforcement ration of approximately 2%, design square columns with equal reinforcement on all sides to carry each of the following loads and select the longitudinal and transverse reinforcement: 1. Pu = 2000 kips and Mu = 160 ft.kips 2. Pu = 1000 kips and Mu = 220 ft.kips 3. Pu = 500 kips and Mu = 160 ft.kips
