My Sheep’s Wool Blanket Company produces wool blankets that it sells for $350 each.

My Sheep’s Wool Blanket Company began operations on January 1, 2015. The company uses actual costs and does not generally carry Work in Process Inventories at the end of the year. Costing for the first three years of operations is given below.

Variable Costs for the first three years of operation (2015, 2016 & 2017):

                                                               Per Blanket

Direct Material                                           $125

Direct Labor                                               $100

Variable Overhead                                      $30

Variable Selling Expense                              $10

Fixed Costs for each of the first three years of operation (2015, 2016 & 2017):

Fixed Overhead                                          $150,000

Total Fixed Selling and Administrative Costs    $250,000

The Selling Price is $350 per blanket for all three years. Production and Sales figures (In number of blankets) for the three years are below.

                                    2015                    2016                     2017

Production                      5,000                    10,000                   6,250

Sales                             4,000                    7,000                  10,000

My Sheep’s Wool Blanket uses the FIFO method to assign cost to any units left in Ending Finished Goods Inventory.

Tasks:

A.

1. Prepare, in good form, two Income Statements for the year ending December 31, 2016: One using Absorption costing and one using Variable Costing. Use the formats that I used in the class example for Chapter 6.

2. Then, prepare a Reconciliation to explain the difference in the Net Operating Income figures. Again, use the format that I used in the class example.

B.      In a management meeting at the end of December 2017, you are provided with a Variable Income Statement for year ending December 31, 2017. The Variable Income Statement showed Net Operating Income of $450,000. WITHOUT DOING ANY INCOME STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2017, prepare a Reconciliation for that year (2017)) that will give us the Net Operating Income (Loss) figure using Absorption Costing. In other words, what was the Net Operating Income (Loss) for the year ending December 31, 2017? You are ONLY TO PREPARE A RECONCILIATION STATEMENT.

1). In approximately 350 words, please:

Summarize and briefly explain Thomson’s “ailing violinist” case. What are the details of the case? What are Thomson’s moral intuitions about the case? And how (specifically) is Thomson’s violinist case supposed to motivate an argument in favor of the moral permissibility of abortion in certain cases? In other words, how is Thomson’s argument is supposed to work and what is it supposed to ultimately show? Do you think Thomson’s argument is a good one? Explain why or why not.

2).  In approximately 350 words, please:

Summarize and briefly explain Marquis' argument for the impermissibility of abortion. What specific considerations does Marquis use to support his argument? According to Marquis, what is it (most fundamentally) that makes killing wrong? And how (specifically) is Marquis’ view about the wrongness of killing supposed to motivate an argument in favor of the moral impermissibility of abortion? Do you think Marquis’ argument is a good one? Explain why or why not.

An unsymmetrical I section prestressed concrete beam of top flange (350 X 40 mm) in size, bottom flange of (200 X 40 mm), 30mm thickness of web and overall depth of 400 mm is prestressed with 19 numbers straight steel wires of 7 mm diameter located at a distance of 15 mm from the bottom of the soffit and 9 numbers of straight steel wires of 6 mm diameter located at a distance of 15 mm from the top of the beam. The wires were initially tensioned on the prestressing bed with an initial prestress of 1.2 GPa. The length of the beam is 10 m. Calculate the total percentage loss of stress in the wires at top and bottom. Assume the beam is post tensioned beam and all the wires stressed simultaneously by using the following data: [9] Relaxation of steel stress= 4.5% of initial stress -6 Shrinkage strain in concrete for post tensioning = 200 x 10 Creep Coefficient ɸ=1.6 Friction coefficient for wave effect=0.0015 per metre Slip at anchorage= 1.5 mm Modulus of elasticity for steel = 210 GPa Modulus of elasticity for concrete= 35 GPa

Length: 350-400 words

Directions: Read the text below and complete the task by adding necessary details to make the message effective. Please note the following:

Your writing will be evaluated in terms of Task fulfillment, Audience awareness, Organisation and Lexico-grammatical range and accuracy.
Be sure to paraphrase the information, if needed, in your own words. Copying extensively from the original text will affect language marks.
You are required to write in a complete e-mail format.

Bad News Scenario

You are the Senior Course Convenor at Elite Education overseeing the 30 different language courses it offers for both students and working adults. Your language courses include English, French, and Spanish. These courses are very popular with learners because all curricula are designed by your team of experts and learning materials are produced in-house. However, you have just received a resignation letter, from the English Curriculum Leader, Dr Amy Shaw, who has been with Elite for 15 years. There has been rumour that she might bring a couple of popular teaching staff in her team to become partners with another education centre which is your direct competitor.

The leaving of Dr Shaw and possibly her team members will seriously jeopardize Elite Education’s position as the leading education centre in the territory. More importantly, you must ensure that the courses designed by her remain the property of Elite.

Your Task

Write a persuasive email to the Managing Director, Prof. Johnny English, in the name of Angela Lung. You should inform him of this bad news, explaining the situation as well as suggesting ways of solving the problems so that the impact of the resignation of Dr Shaw can be minimized and that the intellectual property of Elite will be protected. You must provide justification for what you suggest and persuade the Managing Director to accept your suggestions and to approve extra resources that may be needed.

A 6.00  g sugar cube (sucrose: C12H22O11) is dissolved in a 350 mL teapot containing 80∘ C water (density of water at 80∘ C= 0.975 g/mL). What is the molality of the sugar solution?

Express the molality with the appropriate units.

Calcium chloride, CaCl2, is commonly used as an electrolyte in sports drinks and other beverages, including bottled water. A solution is made by adding 8.50  g of CaCl2 to 60.0 mL of water at 25∘C. The density of the solvent at that temperature is 0.997 g/mL. Calculate the mole percent of CaCl2 in the solution.

Express your answer as a percent to three significant figures.

Suppose that Xtel currently is selling at $44 per share. You buy 350 shares using $12,000 of your own money, borrowing the remainder of the purchase price from your broker. The rate on the margin loan is 9%

. a. What is the percentage increase in the net worth of your brokerage account if the price of Xtel immediately changes to: (i) $46.20; (ii) $44; (iii) $41.80? What is the relationship between your percentage return and the percentage change in the price of Xtel? (Leave no cells blank - be certain to enter "0" wherever required. Negative values should be indicated by a minus sign. Round your answers to 2 decimal places.) b. If the maintenance margin is 25%, how low can Xtel’s price fall before you get a margin call? (Round your answer to 2 decimal places.) c. How would your answer to (b) change if you had financed the initial purchase with only $7,700 of your own money? (Round your answer to 2 decimal places.) d. What is the rate of return on your margined position (assuming again that you invest $12,000 of your own money) if Xtel is selling after 1 year at: (i) $46.20; (ii) $44; (iii) $41.80? What is the relationship between your percentage return and the percentage change in the price of Xtel? Assume that Xtel pays no dividends. (Negative values should be indicated by a minus sign. Round your answers to 2 decimal places.) e. Continue to assume that a year has passed. How low can Xtel’s price fall before you get a margin call? (Round your answer to 2 decimal places.)

HR seeks to get across the message to line managers that negotiating skills are basically communication skills, and that authentic conversations are needed to establish trust-based relationships with employees. ‘Partnership’ in the company is seen as being essentially between employer and employees, while the relationship with the trade unions is a professional one. In addition to regular team briefings by line managers, the company is increasingly using email and the company intranet to communicate with employees.
