You are an entrepreneur and just started a new business in the restaurant industry.
The business
must
be hypothetical (made-up) for this assignment.
Please propose a plan for protecting your hypothetical intellectual property (IP). Your plan should
consist of the following information. Please keep in mind that you may find that some categories are
more applicable than others. This is perfectly acceptable as long as you analyze each category.
Trademark Protection
: Start by demonstrating your understanding of what subject matter
trademark protects. Survey the subject matter that would receive trademark protection in your
hypothetical restaurant business.
Patent Protection
: Explain what types of inventions are patent eligible. In your business,
explain whether you would have any items that would have patent protection. You may also
comment on whether you need to apply for a patent. Feel free to use your imagination in
thinking about potential inventions that may be applicable in a restaurant.
Copyright Protection
: Generally, list the types of works that may receive copyright protection.
Survey the types of items in your business that may receive this protection, if any.
Trade Secret Protection:
Demonstrate your understanding of trade secret protection. Would
this type of protection be applicable to your business? Why or why not? If applicable, describe
what steps your business might take to keep this protection.
Distinguish between the types of protections:
Give a brief overview of your understanding of
how the above protections are different. Then discuss which type of protection is most
applicable to your business.
Infringement Concerns:
Identify any concerns that you have about infringing on a competitor’s
intellectual property rights. Describe what steps you might take to avoid this problem.
Relevance and Significance of Intellectual Property:
Is it important to understand these
different types of intellectual property protections before starting a business? Why or why not?
Please explain any benefits that students receive from studying this information.

Takmobile is a Japanese manufacturer of cellphones. Established
in the 1970s, the company closely follows traditional Japanese
business culture with seniority-based promotions and lifetime
employment. The company also uses teams of engineers and designers
who work together on new product development. The company has
identified Vietnam as a potential market to manufacture and sell
mobile phones in the country. The company is yet to decide on the
appropriate entry mode to enter the Vietnamese market. Their
decision will be influenced by a number of factors:
· Maintaining control over the subsidiary to ensure the same high
quality of production in Vietnam as they currently have in
Japan.
· Not having existing networks in, or knowledge about the local
business culture and regulations in Vietnam, which is necessary to
operate in the country.
· Concerns about intellectual property theft in Vietnam.
Based on this information, you are required to answer the following
questions:
1. What do you believe is the organizational culture of Takmobile?
Explain your answer (250 words)
2. Which is the most appropriate entry mode that Takmobile should
use when entering Vietnam? Explain and justify your choice of this
entry mode ( 250 words)

Assignment: You are expected to submit a typed, formal, full-sentence outline for your presentation. Consult notes from our class discussion on organization and outlining and the appropriate sections of the textbook for more information. Please also see the Informative Speech Formal Outline Example posted in Canvas in the section of Supplemental Materials. You must submit a typed, formal, full-sentence outline for your Informative speech in order for your Informative Speech to be reviewed and graded by the instructor.
An outline is not a manuscript but it should include sufficient detail so the reader can have more than a general idea of your presentation content. Your outline is required to include the Roman Numeral level and capital letter level of subpoint structure. You may also include the Arabic Numeral level of subpointing as well. Remember the "rule of 2" in your outline development. Your outline should not contain all ideas you present in your speech--it is a skeleton of the ideas--I assume you will say more than what appears on the outline. Accordingly, the outline should not contain so much content that it is essentially a manuscript of your speech.
Please cite your sources on the outline where they are used in the speech. Parenthetically reference the source on your outline following the cited ideas. Just including the source name is fine, provided there is no other source with the same name.
Attach a “References” page using APA format to your formal outline. Remember that Reference page entries are always listed alphabetically using the first character of the citation. Purdue OWL is an excellent resource to help you prepare accurate Reference pages. Use 11 or 12 point font in Times New Roman or Arial.
The Formal Outline is due no later than the date/time posted in Canvas and on the Tentative Class Schedule for the Informative Presentation and Outline. Please upload the Formal Outline to the appropriate assignment in Canvas.
Please also review the supplemental course information regarding plagiarism and be sure to avoid plagiarism anytime in this class and on researched assignments.

We discussed the Simpson’s Paradox in class. Describe this paradox and why it occurs. Describe one example (your own, not one presented in class or in your textbook) where this paradox occurs and might lead to poor decision making.
Explain how correlation and regression are related concepts. Why is regression impossible without correlation? How does the strength of a correlation directly influence the outcome of a regression equation? Use your own specific example to illustrate these concepts.
Briefly describe the role of chance and probability in hypothesis testing. What do we mean when we say our results are statistically significant or not? What are we essentially saying about the probability of obtaining our sample results due to chance alone? Use your own, specific example to illustrate these concepts.
Describe the three pitfalls associated with risk statistics as describe in your book using your own unique examples to illustrate the importance of each pitfall.
Researchers found a correlation between taking fish oil supplements and having clear skin. Describe three reasons this correlation might exist.

Write a program in a language of your choice to perform a search using the A* algorithm for the eight puzzle problem, in which numbers may be shifted one space at a time to transform the initial state into the goal state (see p. 103 – 3rd Ed., pp. 105-106 – 2nd Ed. of the text).
2. a)
Use the start state-goal state combination given in pp. 103, Figure 3.28 (3rd Ed.), [pp. 105,
Figure 4.7 (2rd Ed.)], as (start_1, goal_1) (see page 2).
b) Use a new start state, which is given in page 2, the same goal state (start_2, goal_1).
c) Use a different goal state (the blank is now at the bottom right corner - see page 2),
and the same start state as part a (start_1, goal_2).
d) Use a the same start state as part b, and the same goal state as part c
(start_2, goal_2) (see page 2).
e) Also use { (start_3, goal_1), (start_3, goal_2), (start_3, goal_3), (start_1, goal_3),
(start_2, goal_3) } pairs given in page 2.
Use two different set of heuristic functions to estimate
distance from the goal
(See pp. 103 – 3rd Ed, p. 106 – 2nd Ed.)
h1: the number of misplaced tiles
h2: the sum of the distances of tiles from their goal positions
(Manhattan distance)
Write a report comparing the performance of the two heuristics on the nine different sets of (start_x, goal_x) combinations of part 2.
Performance measure: the length of the solution path (from the start state to the goal), and the actual time it takes to find the solution (i.e., to reach the goal state).
