A press conference is an important presentation of information that requires you to anticipate
questions and prepare possible responses. Your role as spokesperson is to write and present a
prepared statement, and prepare responses to no less than five questions you may be
expecting from the media.
Scenario:
Fast Food Restaurants, Inc.
A customer reported finding a severed human fingertip in soup purchased from Fast Food
Restaurants, Inc. The soup and sandwich package was purchased at a Fast Food Restaurant as a
take-out order. Your company has several quality controls in place to prevent accidents like
this. Local law enforcement is investigating. The customer has taken pictures and posted them
all over the Web, and made both libelous and slanderous comments against your company in
media interviews and blogs. The customer has never been an employee of Fast Food
Restaurants or its affiliates. You represent Fast Food Restaurants, Inc.

Find examples of each tool in the marketer's promotion toolbox in the current press, on the Internet, on TV, or another media source. The marketer's toolbox includes advertising, PR, personal selling, sales promotions, direct marketing, and viral marketing. Research and identify one example for each tool. To prepare for writing your first post, speculate on why the company chose that tool for their message and what they hoped to accomplish.
Write your first post. Be sure to clearly state each tool and provide a link or example so that your classmates know what it is that you are referring to. While most examples will be on-line, it is perfectly acceptable to include references to TV ads, newspaper articles, etc. For each tool you must include your thoughts on why the company chose that particular tool. What did it hope to accomplish? Do you believe that they are successful? Why or why not? You may scan and attach anything you find that you believe would contribute to your classmates' understanding of your examples.

The company operates a punch press to manufacture machine parts.
It is a noisy operation. As a matter of fact, it is common
knowledge in the plant that employees working in this location have
to shout to be heard, even if you are right next to them. The
employer decides to transfer a new employee to the department to
monitor the punch press operation. The employee is deaf and the
companies thinking was that since the employee had hearing loss it
doesn't matter much if this individual worked in this location.
Hearing protection was not provided and no personnel noise
monitoring conducted.
You have been hired as the new EHS Manager for this company and
have been asked for your opinion as to the best method to handle
this situation. Please prepare a response that considers both the
employer and employee perspective.
First and foremost, consider the following information when preparing your response.
1. From an employer perspective, how should this situation be managed? Here, think about issues such as ethical and moral responsibilities including compliance, worker rights and employer responsibilities.
2. From an employee perspective, how should the workers disability be managed? Do they have any rights in this situation?
How can these everyone's rights (employee and employer) be protected in this delicate situation?

Suppose that Kevin is a 10 years old boy. He is at the mall with his mom, and she gives him some money to get food from the food court. At the food court there is a hamburger place, and an ice cream shop.
In the following table, I will show you Kevin's Total Utility for each quantity of Hamburgers and ice cream.
| Hamburgers ($2) | Ice Cream ($1) | |||||||
| Quantity | Total Utility | Marginal Utility | MU/P | Quantity | Total Utility | Marginal Utility | MU/P | |
| 0 | 0 | - | - | 0 | 0 | - | - | |
| 1 | 20 | 1 | 29 | |||||
| 2 | 34 | 2 | 46 | |||||
| 3 | 44 | 3 | 53 | |||||
| 4 | 47 | 4 | 55 | |||||
| 5 | 47 | 5 | 56 | |||||
| 6 | 42 | 6 | 56 | |||||
| 7 | 32 | 7 | 52 | |||||
1) Complete the table, showing the Marginal Utility for each hamburger and ice cream. (for example, the first hamburger gives Kevin the marginal utility of 20, and the second gives him the marginal utility of 14.
2) Complete the table, showing the Marginal Utility Per Dollar of each hamburger and Ice Cream (ex. the first hamburger gives Kevin a marginal utility of 20, but costs $2, so the MU/P = 10).
3) Suppose that Kevin's mom gives Kevin $7 to spend in the food court. Please show me where kevin spends his money. (i.e. What does he buy first, second, third) and what his Total Utility is after each purchase.

The heavy boy and light girl are balanced on the seesaw. If they both move inward so that each is exactly half the original distance from the pivot, then the 1) boy's end will move downward. 2) girl's end will move downward. 3) seesaw will remain in balance. If the fulcrum of the seesaw is repositioned so each can sit at an END of the board and be in balance, then if each moves inward half way the 4) boy's end will move downward. 5) girl's end will move downward. 6) seesaw will remain balanced. choose one answer from (1-3) and one answer from (4-6)
