Assignment 2: Ethical Factors for HMO

You are the HMO Vice President of Operations for NuCare HMO. The HMO President tells you that the board is considering discontinuing Medicare affiliation. The board wants to know how this will impact their membership in rural areas where there is no other HMO that is affiliated with Medicare.

The president directs you to create a five- to six-slide PowerPoint presentation to present to the Board of Directors. The presentation should briefly outline what the likely outcome would be for rural membership if the HMO stops attending to Medicare patients. Include the following considerations in your presentation:

The difficulty members may face in finding new care options

The concerns that may need to be addressed for members seeking new care options

Whether members will be able to acquire Medicare gap insurance

Make a final recommendation as to whether NuCare should discontinue its Medicare affliation.

Use headings, bold, and bulleted lists in your presentation. Use the notes section in PowerPoint to clarify your responses or add additional detail where warranted.

The attached article discusses what happens to patients when their HMO decides to discontinue serving Medicare patients. The article contrasts the different experiences among people who live in areas where there is a choice of another Medicare HMO against the experiences among people who live in areas where there is not another HMO.

Submit the presentation to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.

a) The price elasticity of a good is -4.2. What does this mean? What would happen to the total revenue collected if prices were to increase by 10%?

b)The income elasticity of a good is 0.25. What can we conclude about this good? Explain.

c) The cross price of elasticity of a good is -1.5. What can we conclude about this good? Explain.

if this is considered more than one question then please explain part 'I' (Find the exact value of f100, f500, and f1000, where fn is the nth Fibonacci number. What are times taken to find out the exact values?). I am having trouble writing the code for both recursive and iterative functions without having the program crash. I assume its because the numbers are so high.

Goal: The main goal of the project is to let students use their prior knowledge, try to use the skills they have learnt to solve real world problems. Using this assignment students are required to learn to use the skills they have learned in their previous classes, solve the problems given and reflect on how they can apply it to solve real world issues.

Deliverables: The students are required to submit a written report along with the programs they have written. The report has to address all the prompts mentioned under the Report section. The report should be properly presented by using appropriate font (Time new roman, preferably font size 12 till 16) and grammar.

Tasks:

  1. Write an iterative C++ function that inputs a nonnegative integer n and returns the nth Fibonacci number.
  2. Write a recursive C++ function that inputs a nonnegative integer n and returns the nth Fibonacci number.
  3. Compare the number of operations and time taken to compute Fibonacci numbers recursively versus that needed to compute them iteratively.
  4. Use the above functions to write a C++ program for solving each of the following computational problems.
  1. Find the exact value of f100, f500, and f1000, where fn is the nth Fibonacci number. What are times taken to find out the exact values?
  2. Find the smallest Fibonacci number greater than 1,000,000 and greater than 1,000,000,000.
  3. Find as many prime Fibonacci numbers as you can. It is unknown whether there are infinitely many of these. Find out the times taken to find first 10, 20, 30, 40…up to 200 and draw a graph and see the pattern.

Report: Your report should address all of the below mentioned questions

  1. Describe the Fibonacci series and write briefly what you have done in the assignment.
  2. What are the different skills, programming techniques have you used in order to run the experiments?
  3. What did you observe when you did the comparisons in Task 3 and Task 4? Explain the graph that you have drawn from Task 4.III?
  4. List at least three different applications of the Fibonacci numbers to sciences and describe one of them in details. Think of situation or a real world problem where you can apply concept of Fibonacci numbers to solve it. Explain?
  5. Write a paragraph, explaining what you have done in this assignment. What were the challenges you have faced when solving these problems. How can you improve the programs you have written to solve these problems? How can you use what you have learned going forward?

A company was thinking about instituting a policy that allowed for no limits to the number of sick days that employees could take rather than limiting the number of paid sick days. Each column represents a different sample of employees during the trial period.

A) Explain why an alpha level of 0.05 is appropriate for the test (compared to, say, 0.01 or 0.001).

B) What are we doing by setting an alpha level? Explain it for the layperson.

C) What is the null hypothesis and alternate hypothesis? (Do not worry about formatting the statements - I'll get it from what you write.)

D) Conduct the t-test at α = 0.05, and report the results and conclusion. Provide in your statement the necessary statistics to support your answer.

5) You are given the task of creating a genetic map of three genes of Drosophila...

5) You are given the task of creating a genetic map of three genes of Drosophila melanogaster. The genes are all located on the same chromosome. The genes are for the body color, eye color, and antenna formation. The alleles for body color are yellow and gray (wild-type), the alleles for eye color are sepia and red (wild-type) and the alleles for the antenna are short and normal (wild-type). The mutant alleles for body and eye color are recessive, while the mutant allele for antenna formation is dominant. You follow the procedure for determining the order and map distance for the genes and obtain the following data:

Short, gray, sepia = 240

Short, yellow, red = 2

Short, yellow, sepia = 500

Short, gray, red = 22

Normal, yellow, red = 270

Normal, gray, sepia = 5

Normal, yellow, sepia = 15

Normal, gray, red = 444

Hints for drawings: size matters! Don’t draw all genes equidistant. If two genes are further away from each other than another set, make sure to draw it that way.

Based on the data given:

a) Define each gene and allele. Based on how you defined the alleles, what was the genotype and phenotype of the P gen? Make sure to notate alleles properly and to draw the chromosomes correctly. Make sure the genes are in the correct order.

b) What was the genotype and phenotype of the F1 gen? Make sure to notate alleles properly and to draw the chromosomes correctly. Make sure the genes are in the correct order.

c) What was the genotype and phenotype of the Test cross that was performed? Make sure to notate alleles properly and to draw the chromosomes correctly. Make sure the genes are in the correct order.

d) What are all of the map distances between the genes given? Make sure to draw the chromosomes correctly, the genes are in the proper order, and units are used.
