From Dunkin Donuts to Just Dunkin! The famous American Donut’s brand is rebranding and closing stores across the world including Oman as its outlets have shut down for good. The demand for donuts in America is decreasing as customers preferring more healthy food with less sugar and fat.
The company’s brand CEO Mr. David Hoffmann said, “the rebranding comes as an effort to reshape the company’s strategic goals and focusing on drinks more than donuts.” While analyzing the company’s different products, the managers noticed that 60% of its revenue is coming from drinks like coffee while demand for donuts is declining.
The company redesigned its brand, and its stores making them look simpler. The company is also introducing new coffee experiences like nitro, cold brew, black...etc. The company will also introduce digital menu and drive through to fit the customers on the go lifestyle. The company will also reduce its employees as the new digital menus will eliminate the need of human employees, reducing the company’s costs.

Job characteristic model has five components:skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback. Skill variety, task identity and task significance let employees experience meaningfulness of work.Skill variety reduces boredom. And hence it increases satisfaction and i motivation. It motivates them; it increases productivity, reduces absenteeism and improves job satisfaction. Because of autonomy, employees experience responsibility for outcomes of work. Feedbacks help in gaining knowledge of the actual result of activities they are doing. Assigning more significant task to people help in engaging them. Autonomy inculcates the idea of belonging and greater responsibility. Job identity enhances job satisfaction.I will be more interested in jobs which include both enlargement and job enriching. One of the key important task of human resource management is measuring employee satisfaction. Job enlargement is the horizontal expansion of jobs by adding work with the same ski sets(Alias, Othman,2018). The main difference between job enlargement and job enrichments is of quality and quantitiy. Job enrichment causes employees to find satisfaction with their job, and job enlargement adds more responsibilities to their position.Job enlargements improve earning capacity, which may ultimately result in job satisfaction because of increased income. Job rotation strategy is one of the ways of job enlargement

Jessica Smith is the vice president of new drug development at Generic Phama, Inc, a pharmaceutical research company in Boston, Massachusetts. One year ago, she filed an application with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to obtain approval of a new drug for treating cancer. Smith met Joe Spencer at a convention three months ago and invited him to her room at the hotel. The two parted ways. Spencer worked as the director for approval of new drugs at the FDA. Two weeks later, Spencer wrote Smith a letter on FDA letterhead stating, “It was nice to see your name cross my desk on our company’s application for approval of the new cancer drug. I’d really like to see you again. Why don’t you come visit me in Washington this weekend?”
Smith considered requesting that the petition be referred to another director at the FDA. However, she is concerned that the transfer would delay the approval process for at least a year. Smith’s chief scientist advised her that a key competitor plans to introduce a similar drug on the market in three months.
Are there any legal or ethical barriers to relationships between corporate officers and members of administrative agencies involved in reviewing or regulating corporate activity?
What should she do?
What would you advise her to do if you were head of human resources or legal counsel for Generic Pharma, Inc.
