The distribution of letters in a document has a distinctive and predictable shape, as shown in the following figure. This distribution could be effective information to break a cipher. Write a program that reads an input file, and outputs the count or frequency of all 26 letters to an output file: count.dat. Case sensitivity is not considered, i.e., ‘a’ is treated as the same as ‘A’. Test file is “independence.txt”. In the output file, you don’t need to draw a histogram and a frequency output as in Question 5 is sufficient. A screenshot of the content of this output file should be provided.

Long-Term Care Today
Demographics and epidemiological transitions result in dramatic changes in the health needs of individuals throughout the globe. In recent times, there has been increase in the prevalence of long-term disability in the population—causing increasing need for long-term care services. In addition, the present developing world is experiencing an increase in the demand for long-term care services at a cost much lower than industrialized countries.
· Who are the institutional and non-institutional caregivers in both the countries? Support your answer with relevant examples. Explain the factors that affect care giving in each country.
· Is there any difference in the status of quality of care of the elderly consumers in the United States as compared to the developing country?
· Is there any difference in the health care cost provided in the United States as compared to the developing country? Define any social support that may exist to cover health care in both countries.

2. Suppose that BioNTech discovers a vaccine that cures a disease. BioNTech has laboratories in both the United States and Germany and can manufacture the vaccine on both countries with the following total cost function:
?(?) = 10?
where ? = ?1 + ?2. In Germany and the United States, the demand functions for the vaccine are ?1 = 70 − ?1 (Germany) ?2 = 110 − ?2 (The United States)
a) If the firm can practice third-degree price discrimination, what price should it set on each country to maximize its profit? How many vaccines will it sell in each country? What will be its maximum profit under the third-degree price discrimination?
b) Assume now that practicing third-degree price discrimination is illegal in both countries. So, the firm can charge only a single price (? ?) on both countries. Calculate its profit-maximizing price-quantity combination and the maximum profit.
c)Calculate the deadweight loss under the third-degree price discrimination.

The United States has recently imposed tariffs on the importation of Canadian lumber; the tariffs range from 17.41-30.88 percent. Canadian exports to the U.S. make up about 30% of all softwood lumber used in U.S. residential housing construction. Using this information, do the following:
A. Assume the U.S. equilibrium price of lumber with no international trade is $380 per 110,000 feet of lumber and the world price of lumber is $360 per 110,000 feet of lumber. Explain the effects of the tariff on the supply and demand for lumber in the United States. In your answer, please explain what will happen to the equilibrium price and quantity of lumber sold in the United States because of the tariff. Illustrate your answer with a graph of the supply and demand for lumber.
B. Discuss who benefits and who pays the costs of the tariff. Is the tariff economically efficient? Please explain and illustrate your answer with a graph. (In your answer, remember to define “efficient”.)
