There are several ethical issues surrounding gene therapy. Pick one and state whether you agree or disagree with the position. Explain your answer.

There are both highs and lows in gene therapy. Research the stories of Ashanti de Silva and Jesse Gelsinger. Based on the outcomes of these treatments, do you think experimental gene therapy trials should continue? Why or why not?

Dr. Blademan, who you recently paged to report an abnormal laboratory result, approaches you, shouting angrily, “Why did you page me with that report? You know I make rounds in the evenings, and I would have been here soon.” You attempt to explain that the patient was symptomatic, that the abnormal laboratory result was high enough to be labeled a critical value, and that you believe prompt reporting was in the best interest of the patient. The great 18th-century economist Adam Smith wrote, “Little else is requisite to carry a state to the highest degree of opulence from the lowest barbarism but peace, easy taxes, and a tolerable administration of justice: all the rest being brought about by the natural course of things.” Explain how each of the three conditions Smith describes would promote economic growth.

This week have had the chance to learn about the nature of pollution and the problems posed by it as well as government policies to regulate pollution.

1. A burglary has occurred in single story house and you are tasked to search for potential latent impression evidence. List five (5) particular items that would contain latent fingerprint evidence. Discuss the type of processing (powder or chemical) that would be used to develop the latent fingerprints on these five (5) items.
