1. Find Apple Inc.'s 10-K filings that will give you their financial data for the past 5 years. Note: you could find it on Apple, Inc.'s investor relations' website: http://investor.apple.com/financials.cfm or in EDGAR. 2. Create a spreadsheet where you will enter the 5-year data from the report (from page 24 of Apple's 2015 10-K report). 3. In your spreadsheet, build a similar set-up with the column in the left showing all the lines, e.g. from Net Sales down to Total Shareholder's Equity. 4. Then create columns for the 5 years of historical data (2013) to (2017) - you will note that their fiscal year ends in September. 5. Using this year-by-year historical data, calculate your 3, 5, and 10-year forecasts for each of the rows (i.e. Net Sales, etc., down to Total Shareholder's Equity). You can choose which forecasting method you want to use. 6. After you have completed your forecast, in a Word document, state the type of forecasting method you chose and why. Then write a brief statement as to why Apple's Board of Directors should be confident in these forecasts (for the 3, 5, and 10 years). Remember that hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake. Only one page is necessary for this written statement

I would like this answered with time series forecasting. I need to see the Excel sheet complete with the 3, 5, and 10-year forecasts. Why would Apple's Board of Directors be confident in the forecasts provided?

2. working with databases and files in python

a) Write a function with prototype “def profound():” that will prompt the user to type something profound. It will then record the date and time using the “datetime” module and then append the date, time and profound line to a file called “profound.txt”. Do only one line per function call. Use a single write and f-string such that the file contents look like:

2020-10-27 11:20:22 -- Has eighteen letters does

2020-10-27 11:20:36 -- something profound

b) Write a function with prototype “def bestwords():” that will prompt the user to enter a line with some of the best words (separated by spaces). These will be converted to lower case and stored in a data base file (using the dbm and pickle modules) whose keys are a tuple of the current year, month and day (using the datetime module) and the “values” are a set of words collected on that day. Each new word should be checked against all previously-entered words (even those on other days) and it is not added if it already exists in the database. (Hint: I simply subtracted all previous sets of words from the current set, then added that new set to the one for the current day (if it already existed).

c) Write a function with prototype “def printbestwords():” that will simply open the database of best words and print the keys and values, sorted by the keys. Don’t forget to close the database on exit. Example output:

(2020, 10, 26) {'infantroopen', 'susbesdig'}

(2020, 10, 27) {'deligitimatize'}

(2020, 10, 28) {'transpants', 'resaption'}

The Hollywood Hat Company produces a top hat, the Star Topper that sells for $130. Operating income for 2018 is as follows:

Sales revenue ($130)

$910,000

Variable cost ($60 per hat)

420,000

Contribution margin

490,000

Fixed cost

380,000

Operating income

$110,000

Hollywood Hat Company would like to increase its profitability over the next year by at least 20%. To do so, the company is considering the following options:

Replace a portion of its variable labor with an automated machining process. This would result in a 20% decrease in variable cost per unit but a 15% increase in fixed costs. Sales would remain the same.

Spend $50,000 on a new advertising campaign, which would increase sales by 10%.

Increase both selling price by $10 per unit and variable costs by $8 per unit by using a higher-quality silk material in the production of its hats. The higher-priced hat would cause demand to drop by approximately 10%.

Add a second manufacturing facility that would double Hollywood Hat’s fixed costs but would increase sales by 60%.

Required

a. Evaluate each of the alternatives considered by Hollywood Hat.

b. Do any of the options meet or exceed Hollywood Hat’s targeted increase in income of 20%?

c. What should Hollywood Hat do?

Your answer should address each requirement (remember to show your work) and your submission should be in one Word file.

In this assignment you will apply your knowledge and understanding of the AD/AS model to a hypothetical scenario.

Write a response to the following scenario on a word file or equivalent and submit it as an 'upload file'. Please note you can only submit the following file types, doc, docx, pdf, txt, png, and jpeg. Graphs can be hand-drawn or computer graphics. Remember to correctly label all your graphs! For example, what the x and y axis represent.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the US-China trade tension have caused a significant decrease in China's demand for US exports.

1. Graphically show the likely short-run impact on US GDP and aggregate price levelusing the AD/AS model. Explain your prediction. HINT: Which curve in the AD/AS model would a change in US exports affect? [6 points = graph, 3 points explanation]

2. What is the anticipated result in US employment level? Explain [2 points]

3. What is the anticipated result in US inflation rate? Explain. [2 points]

4. The US-China trade tension was partly caused by the US imposing tariffs on Chinese imports. Do you agree with this economic policy? Explain your answer. [2 points]

5. With lockdowns during the pandemic, crude oil (a key input) price has fallen due to weak demand. How would the fall in oil price impact aggregate supply, real GDP and aggregate price level in the US? Show this in a AD/AS model and explain. [5 points = graph, 2 points = explanation]

Competitive strategy as we have understood it so far, has followed a two step process; the...

Competitive strategy as we have understood it so far, has followed a two step process; the first step was creating value defined as the difference between the customer's willingness to pay (based on their desires) and the cost of supplying the good (based on the firm's value chain choices), and the second step of splitting this "value" created between the customer (appropriated as consumer surplus) and supplier firm (appropriated as profits). Our current module explored some ideas on conditions that drove the appropriation of value in a competitive environment. A recurrent theme in value appropriation is that asymmetry in bargaining power between the players drives who appropriates how much of the value created in a competitive situation, with above average profits flowing to the party with the asymmetry in its favor. For this module test, write up a one page note on the kinds of asymmetry in play in each of our lecture sessions - structural economies of scale, resource based view of strategy, customer captivity and the many contrived barriers to entry. A good way to keep this simple will be to write this down as a table with the following columns (with an example): Party 1 (Positive) : The Supplier Party 2 (Negative) : The Customer Type of asymmetry : Monopoly Power with effective barrier to entry Source of asymmetry : Economies of Scale with minimum efficient scale a significant proportion of market size discouraging new entrants. The same can also be described as an asymmetry between the firm and its potential competitors (even if it is secondary) and listing them both as separate line items is okay. Submit the assignment as an editable Word document in Blackboard like you did for the first module.
