For each molecule of fully saturated fatty acid sterarate that is degraded throguh bet- oxidation:

a. How many cycles of beta-oxidation are required to fully oxidize this molecule of sterate? how many molecules of acetyl CoA are produced from the complete oxidation of this moelcule of sterate?

b. how many molecules of NADH (+H+) and FADH2 are produced in these many cycles of beta-oxidation that you have indicated in part (1)? (I am asking for the total number of NADH (+H+) and FADH2 molecules produced through Beta-oxidation per molecules of stearate oxidized).

c. How many molecules of ATP (and GTP; in other word, how many high enegry phosphates) are produced from the acetyl-Coa molecules produced in (1) when these molcules are oxidized through the citric acid cycle, and resulting reduced coenzyme produced re-oxidized through the elctron transport sytem (ETS) and oxidativr phosphorylation.

d. how many total molecules of ATP (and GTP, in other words, how many total high-energy phosphates) are obtained from each molecule of steraate oxidized? show work

Question 8 (1 point)

Use the information from the ANOVA table to complete the following statement.

To test the overall significance of this estimated regression model, the hypotheses would state

there is    between attendance and the group of all explanatory variables, jointly.

there is    between attendance and the group of all explanatory variables, jointly.

The test statistic is calculated as

   /    =   ,

which follows an F distribution with    numerator and    denominator degrees of freedom. Based on the p-value of 0.272, we    the null hypothesis at a 5% level of significance, meaning that the relationship between attendance and the collective group of explanatory variables    statistically significant.

 (a) Consider a somatic cell taken from a sexually-reproducing organism. If this cell is resting, or performing the normal functions of the cell, but not going through cell division, how many versions of each type of chromosome would it contain? (BOLD the correct answer)

ONE or TWO or THREE or twenty three or forty six

 (b) Explain why sexually reproducing organisms have the number chromosome copies you indicated in part a.

 (c) Consider a gamete taken from a sexually-reproducing organism. How many versions of cach chromosome does it contain?

 (d) If you were to look inside the nucleus of a zygote. How many versions of each

 chromosome would it contain?

 (c) Explain why zygotes have the number of chromosome copies you indicated in part

 d. Relate your answer to how zygotes are formed.

 (f) After a zygote is formed, it undergoes many cell divisions to eventually form an embryo. Are these cell divisions mitotic or meiotic? Explain your answer.

 (g) What is the word to describe the different "versions" of a chromosome that diploid cells contain?

 (h) What does "S phase" stand for during the cell cycle?

8. (20 pts)

a. RSA encryption. Let n = pq = (7)(17) = 119 and e = 5 define a (very modest) RSA public key encryption. Since 25 < 119 < 2525, we can only encode one letter (two digit representation) at a time. Use the function ? = ? mod ? to encode the word MATHY into a series of five numbers that are less than n.

b. To decrypt an RSA encrypted message, we need to find d, the multiplicative inverse of e modulo (p-1)(q-1). Use Euclidian algorithm and two-pass method to determine the Bezout coefficient of e for the RSA in Part a. above. Then write down the decryption function.

3) Volare, Inc. has decided to introduce a new product. The product can be manufactured using either a capital-intensive or labor-intensive method. The manufacturing method will not affect the quality or sales of the product. The estimated manufacturing costs of the two methods are as follows: Capital-Intensive Variable manufacturing cost per unit $ 14.00 Fixed manufacturing cost per year $ 2,440,000 Labor-Intensive $ 17.60 $ 1,320,000 The company's market research department has recommended an introductory selling price of $30 per unit for the new product. The annual fixed selling and administrative costs of the new product are $500,000. The variable selling and administrative costs are $2 per unit regardless of how the new product is manufactured. Required: a. Calculate the break-even point in units if Volare, Inc. uses the: 1. capital-intensive manufacturing method. 2. labor-intensive manufacturing method. b. Determine the unit sales volume at which the operating profit is the same for the two manufacturing methods. c. What is your recommendation to management concerning which manufacturing method to use? please type on word not by writing hands

1. Honesty pledge that you have completed the Course Experience Survey (CES).

Note: We value your feedback and want to encourage students to provide their feedback especially this semester when things have been so different (e.g. fully online classes, shift to final assessment as assignment instead of exam). Your responses on the CES are confidental, all you need to be to earn 0.5 mark for this is pledge that you have completed the CES. While there is no way we can in fact check this we hope you will be honest and motivated to complete the CES which you can access on Canvas via Student Surveys in the navigation menu.

Who is responsible for poverty? Is it appropriate to infer that poverty would be caused because of somebody’s inability to fulfill basic necessities to lead decent life? If the word inability is attached to the connotation that puts the blame on the individual, we can pose such a question: How about the hurdles that keep individuals from fulfilling the basic needs. For instance, after graduating from college, many remain unemployed and yet forced to pay the apparent endless tuition debt (since it typically involves compounded interest). Would it be appropriate to regard them as lousy, who would not like to look for job opportunities? Some argue that some employers may prefer hidden preferential hiring practices that suit their interest (the hiring manager's interest). Thus, who should take the blame? Also, the concept of poverty line may have different meaning in different context. How would you define poverty line? To make it clearer, there would not be a standardized dollar value to determine poverty line. Thus, there are variations in different localities within each state. What is the poverty line in terms of monetary worth in your state?
