ABC Early Learning Center is a Day Care Center in Waycross, GA. It has a maximum capacity of 103 children. Harry Smith is the owner of the day care center. He recently had an incident with a 21-year-old teacher, Adam Jones. Adam was an education major at Georgia Southern. He had a 3.5 GPA and experience as a camp counselor. Adam wanted to teach middle school math after graduation. Harry hired Adam to work over the summer. Adam had requested working with children aged 9 – 12, but Harry needed a teacher for the 4 & 5 age group. Adam was disappointed but really needed the job. Adam had studied early childhood development in school and knew how difficult some children could be. For example, he remembered reading that “potentially long-term aggressive behavior can be identified in children as young as age three or four.” His fears were realized within the first week of his employment. Most of his 20 students were great, but four were constantly hitting, throwing things, using profanity, and even biting. Adam was miserable and felt over his head. On June 16, 2019, Adam told Harry that he felt overwhelmed and was worried about the safety of some of the smaller children. Harry responded, “Welcome to the fun world of day care. Be glad that you have a job. If you don’t like it, I hear McDonalds is hiring.” A week later, a parent came to Harry demanding that Adam be fired. The parent said that her five-year-old called Adam a “big scary man.” The mother said she overheard Adam yelling “STOP” at her child for “merely throwing blocks” at another child. To please the mother, Harry fired Adam immediately.

American Airlines and United Airlines are duopoly that faces a market demand curve that is p = 120 – Q. American and United both have a constant marginal cost of 20.
a. Calculate the output of each firm, the total market output, the price of each firm and the profit earned by each of them, if there is Cournot equilibrium. Show all the steps for full credit.
b. Draw the market demand curve of the duopoly, the residual demand curve for American Airlines.
c. Draw the best response functions (or the reaction functions) of both firms in a graph.

A visiting American executive finds that a foreign subsidiary that produces cigarettes in a less-developed country has hired a 12-year-old girl to work on a factory floor making cigarettes, in violation of the company’s prohibition of child labor. He tells the local manager to replace the child and send her back to school. The local manager tells the American executive that the child is an orphan with no other means of support, and she will probably become a street child if she is denied work. What should the American executive do?

On October 1, 2017, Flint Corporation sold a harvesting machine to Pearl Industries. Instead of a cash payment, Pearl Industries gave Flint a $139,000, two-year, 12% note; 12% is a realistic rate for a note of this type. The note required interest to be paid annually on October 1, beginning October 1, 2018. Flint’s financial statements are prepared on a calendar-year basis. Required:
a) Assuming that no reversing entries are used and that Pearl Industries fulfills all the terms of the note, prepare the necessary journal entries for Flint Corporation for the entire term of the note
. b) Repeat the journal entries under the assumption that Flint Corporation uses reversing entries, but only up to and including October 1, 2018.

Check the requirements for confidence intervals using the following information:
Suppose we want to estimate the proportion of American teenagers who would rather own movies physically vs those who would rather own movies digitally. A survey of 45 American teenagers finds that 12 of them would rather own movies physically. With this information, you plan to create a 95% Confidence Interval for the true proportion of Americans who would rather own movies physically.
Conditions:
i. The method of sampling [ Select ] ["can be safely assumed to be Random.", "is not Random.", "is stated to be Random."]
ii. The sample size is [ Select ] ["not large enough, since 12 ≤ 30.", "large enough, since 45 ≥ 30.", "not large enough, since 2.3467 ≤ 10.", "not large enough, since 8.8 ≤ 10."]
iii. The sample is [ Select ] ["more than 5% of all American teenagers, therefore the sample can not be assumed to be independent.", "less than 5% of all American teenagers, therefore the sample can be assumed to be independent.", "more than 5% of all American teenagers, therefore the sample can be assumed to be independent..", "less than 5% of all American teenagers, therefore the sample can not be assumed to be independent."]
Because of our answers from the three conditions above, we [ Select ] ["have not met the requirements to construct a 95% Confidence Interval.", "have met the requirements to construct a 95% Confidence Interval."]

Why do you think governments across Latin America, particularly in Brazil, are importing US-based policing strategies? Why politicians, police leaders, and think tanks are exporting these strategies? And what are the potential consequences of this export in Brazil and in the US?

Suppose 55% of the doctors in America are dentists. If a random sample of size 405 is selected, what is the probability that the proportion of doctors who are dentists will differ from the population proportion by less than 6%? Round your answer to four decimal places.
