P9.29 Sales and labour budgets: university
Perth Business University (PBU) is preparing its budget for the upcoming academic year. This is a specialised private university that charges fees for all degree courses. Currently, 15 000 students are enrolled on campus. However, the university is forecasting a 5 per cent growth in student numbers in the coming year, despite an increase in fees to $3000per subject. The following additional information has been gathered from an examination of university records and conversations with university managers:
Required:
1. Prepare a revenue budget for the upcoming academic year.
2. Determine the number of staff needed to cover classes.
3. Assume there is a shortage of full-time academic staff. List at least five actions that PBU might take to accommodate the growing student numbers.
4. You have been requested by the university’s deputy vice chancellor (DVC) to construct budgets for other areas of operation (such as the library, grounds, cafeteria, and maintenance). The DVC noted: ‘The most important resource of the university is its academic staff. now that you know the number of staff needed, you can prepare the other budgets. Academic staff are indeed the key driver—without them we don’t operate’. Does the DVC really understand the linkages within the budgeting process? Explain.

Write a program in C to grade an n-question multiple-choice exam (for n between 5 and 20) and provide feedback about the most frequently missed questions. Your program will use a function scan_exam_data to scan and store the exam data in an appropriate data structurer. Use file redirection to input data – do not use fopen() in your code. The first line of input contains the number of students. Second line is number of questions on the exam followed by a space and then an n-character string of the correct answers. Each of the lines that follow contain an integer student ID followed by a space and then the student answers.
Sample Input
3
5 dbbac
111 dabac
102 dcbdc
251 dbbac
Your program then uses a function analyze_data to calculate each
student’s score as a percentage and the number of each missed
questions in the exam. A function print_data will be called to
produce an output, containing the answer key, each student’s ID,
each student’s score as a percentage, and information about how
many students missed each question.
Sample Output
Exam Report
Students 3
Question 1 2 3 4 5
Answer d b b a c
ID Score(%)
111 80
102 60
251 100
Question 1 2 3 4 5
Missed by 0 2 0 1 0
Error checking
You will have to perform some error checks while the program is
being running. However, these error checks will not cause the
program to terminate – except if you have a corrupted file. Your
program should print error messages when appropriate. Here is a
list that need to be checked: Illegal inputs like the number of
questions must be between 5-20 and key answers must be lower-case
letters.

Find the singular value decomposition of A = [ (3 2 2), (2 3 2) ] and determine the angle of rotation induced by U and V . Also, write the rank 1 decomposition of A in terms of the columns of U and rows of V . Can we do dimensionality reduction in this case?

Suppose A is the set of positive real numbers, and suppose u and v are two strictly increasing functions.1 It is intuitive that u and v are ordinally equivalent, since both rank larger numbers higher, and therefore generate the same ranking of numbers. Write this intuition as a proof.

Describe the role of V(D)J recombination in anti- body diversification. Explain why nonhomologous end joining is an advantageous mechanism to repair the double-stranded DNA breaks (fusion of the coding segments after the hairpins are hydrolyzed) in the V(D)J recombination pathway.

Ellen Watson is a 65-year-old white woman who just had a colon resection for a cancerous tumor. The surgeon ordered a morphine PCA pump to control the pain. Mrs. Watson has severe arthritis in her hands and lower back. She is on a daily NSAID to control the pain related to the arthritis. Her daughter Marie is staying with her during the hospitalization because Mrs. Watson is a widow. Mrs. Watson has not had surgery before, so she is not sure what to expect. She is upset about the diagnosis of cancer. Lana Bridges is a student nurse assigned to care for Mrs. Watson. She is in her last clinical rotation and will be administering all medications with her instructor’s supervision. QUESTIONS: (Please provide both the ANSWER and RATIONALE)
. Lana is assigned to Mrs. Watson 2 days later. While
she is in the room, Mrs. Watson
tells Lana that she is afraid of the cancer because there is always
so much pain
associated with it. She asks Lana how to they treat cancer pain.
How should Lana
respond to this question?

Identify these elements of your state and local budget process:
a. Does your state have an annual or a biennial budget? Does it appear to have a separate budget for acquisition of capital assets (buildings, roads, bridges, etc)? South carolina
b. What units direct the preparation of the executive budget/ (Not all states have an executive budget.)
c. How many appropriation bills are usually passed?
d. How much object-of-expenditure detail appears in these bills?
e. What item-veto power, if any, does the governor have? Can the governor change the amounts in appropriations bills or is the veto limited to total amounts?
f. Is the budget process described on a state website? Does the website have the budget instruction issued to state agencies?
g. Is the state budget easily accessible on the state website?
h. Does the website provide information on the agency requests, in additions to the executive proposal and adopted appropriations? The National Association of State Budget Officers provides much of this information in its publication Budget Process in the States, which may be accessed at its website [http://www.nasbo.org].
