Ann Elkin, who works for Brill Co., has been sent out to conduct two customer evaluations, which have gone much more quickly than Ann anticipated. Her supervisor does not expect Ann back until after lunch. It is now 10:30 A.M., and Ann would like to run some personal errands and then go to lunch before returning to work at 1:00 P.M. Should Ann take the time? Would you? Why or why not? Is this any different than if Ann was sitting at her office desk using a work computer to access her personal email, surf the internet, check social media or make personal phone calls on her work phone?

Scenario

Suppose you work for a wildlife conservation organization. You are working on creating a system to educate the general public about different animals and get them more interested in conservation.

Aim

Create a Eagle class that inherits from the Bird class and has a clutch size (eggs laid in one nesting) attribute. Change the behavior of instances of the Eagle class to include this clutch size fact when they're printed.

Steps for Completion

  1. Go to your main.py file.

  2. Define the Eagle class that inherits from the Bird class. Override the __init__ initializer method and add a clutch_size attribute with the value of 3.

  3. Override the __str__ method and modify it to include mention of the clutch size.

  4. At the bottom of the script we have initialized an instance of the Eagle class and called print on the instance, which should display facts about the eagle.

Run the script by using python3 main.py in the terminal. The output should be as shown in Snippet 7.86:

The eagle has a wingspan up to 7.5ft, has a lifespan of 20 years and can fly at a maximum speed of 99mph. It also has a clutch size up to 3.

Please using your OWN words give a response to the segment below. Can be anything like do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? Add anything to this statement.

Privacy- "the state or condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people"(Oxford Languages). I do believe that people have the right to their privacy. I don't believe that people should have to have their personal lives exposed for the rest of the world. When it comes to public health and privacy it is very difficult, because I feel people should have their own privacy, but if it is a threat to the community then i also feel as though the community has a right to know. We are kind of dealing with this situation now with COVID. I remember seeing on the news in the beginning of the pandemic that they were trying to make an app so you would know if you were around someone who has tested positive. I'm not sure how that would work, but due to the pandemic and the rapid spread of the virus, I feel like an app like that would be justified. It doesn't have to mention names, just that a person they were around had tested positive.

Mark comes to your office to talk to you about an idea he has. He tells you that he does not have cash to pay you but if you help him, he will compensate you with equity in the company. He talks about a crazy website were individuals can talk to each other online and socialize, something called “Facebook”. Knowing that the technology industry is booming, you agree. Mark asks you that he needs to form a business entity for his business idea. He wants a company that can grow as big as it needs to, Mark has big dreams that the company will one day be a multi-billion-dollar company. Mark also wants to be able to get as much funding and investors as possible. He wants the most liability protection possible, mostly since he predicts millions of users. Mark is not that concerned about taxes because he believes companies should give as much profits back to the community. Which business entity would you recommend for Mark? And why? Be as specific as possible, don’t forget to mention the tax treatment.

8. We revisit the case of Marcel and Yvonne that we looked at in an earlier tutorial topic relating to the parol evidence rule and collateral contracts. Here are facts:
Marcel wants to buy a used car. He knows the make, model and colour of the car he wants to buy. He visits several car dealers who can supply the type of car he wants.
In discussions with one dealer, Yvonne, she tells Marcel that if he buys the car from her, she would fit the car out with high quality new tyres.
Marcel decides to buy the car from Yvonne, but the written agreement he signs with Yvonne makes no mention of this promise.
A month after the purchase is completed, and having driven 3,000 km in the car, Marcel is advised by his motor mechanic that the tyres on the car are actually second hand and of inferior quality.
Marcel wants to make a claim against Yvonne.
Required
(a) Recall from earlier topic: explain why it would be difficult ( though not impossible) for Marcel to sue
Yvonne successfully for breach of contract.
(b) Advise Marcel whether he can sue Yvonne for misrepresentation.

<international trade>
<Answer up to 200 words>
Background
Imagine that you work for the World Bank and you have been called to Ghana to aid the new president to come up with a new international trade strategy.
You are told that the new government is interested in moving away from agriculture and into manufacturing. To do so, the government wants to pursuit a policy of import substitution industrialization (ISI).
You are given a brief about Ghana highlighting the following points:
- About half of Ghana’s population depends on agriculture, but Ghana still imports some of its food.
- The majority of Ghana's people live in rural areas and exist on a subsistence way of life.
- Ghana has one of the highest rates of income inequality in the world.
- Nearly half of the population is employed in agriculture.

QUESTION
Explain if the VER is likely to improve the average efficiency of Ghana’s farms?
- A good answer has the following components:
- Answer must mention the right theory.
- Theory is correctly applied to the case study.
- Correct conclusions are reached.

p/s: does it relate to the Melitz effect theory? if so, how? if not, then which theory does it relate to?

Question
(a) Identify the effect of tariffs, subsidies and export quotas on each of the sectors of the economy given in the table below. For each sector you just need to mention whether the effect is Positive, Negative or No/Uncertain Effect. For all the above instruments assume the country imposing them as the domestic country and the other countries in a trading relationship with this country as the foreign countries. Finally assume that all countries involved in trade have large economies, the markets for the goods on which these trade intervention instruments are imposed are all highly competitive and the export quotas are not auctioned.

Tariffs Export Quotas Subsidies
Domestic Producers
Foreign Producers
Domestic Consumers
Foreign Consumers
Domestic Taxpayers

(b) Explain why strategic trade policy though appealing in the short-run might be counter-productive in the long-run.

(c)Interventions by government in free trade through trade barriers benefit domestic producers and workers but impose welfare losses on consumers and/or taxpayers. Given that consumers and/or taxpayers are vastly more numerous than those involved in the sectors benefited through trade barriers, why are the consumers and/or taxpayers not able to generate enough political pressure to counter the imposition of trade barriers?

Consider the following information to design a database for a catalogue of an online video service that offers access to popular TV series.

The following is the description of the application:

  • Each series has a name and a description.
  • Each series has many episodes. Each episode of a series has an episode number, the date it was first aired, and the length of the episode in minutes. The episode number uniquely identifies an episode with respect to the series, but two different series can have the same episode number.
  • Viewers can comment on any episode. For each comment, we want to record its post date, content and the first name/last name of the viewer who commented.
  • In this database:
    • The name of each series is unique.
    • A user can comment on one or more episodes of any series.
    • You may add extra columns if you need for primary keys.
    • You can model the user as a separate entity but registering the username with each comment is also acceptable.

Based on the above scenario, draw an ER or UML diagram. You can draw the diagram using https://app.diagrams.net/ or manually. Please mention if you make any assumptions.
