A coal burning power plant in upstate New York has been the only provider of power in the region for many years. Recently, a plant that uses wind to create energy was built nearby. The wind plant produces less energy than the coal plant but at a lower cost. Will the coal plant be able to remain competitive in this new market environment?
A. Yes, if the coal plant sells energy at a price below its marginal cost.
B. Yes, if the coal plant's decreased output is still sufficient to recover costs.
C. No, the coal plant's customers will switch to the wind powered plant.
D. No, the coal plant will be forced to cut prices and operate at a loss.

A p-n step junction is made in silicon with Na = 1.5x1016 cm-3 and Nd = 6.5x1016 cm-3. Assume T = 300K. Calculate the following:
(a) the built-in potential Vbi
(b) the total depletion layer width W and depletion into the n (Wn) and p (Wp) sides at zero bias
(c) the maximum electric field at zero bias
(d) the maximum electric field at 7V reverse bias
(e) Sketch the energy band diagram, charge density distribution, electric field distribution, and potential distribution as a function of position x for both zero bias and 7V reverse bias.

1) By mass, what is the most abundant element in proteins? What about by mole?
2) Which of the 20 amino acids is it not possible to draw both its L and D form?
3) Identify the amino acids with non-polar sidechains and those with side chains that are charged at pH = 7.0.
4) Lysine, Arginine and Histidine all bear a positive charge below pH 6.0. What is different about the positive charges on both Arginine and Histidine in comparison to Lysine?
5) The genetic code has a built in mechanism to protect from deleterious mutations that are likely to affect protein function. Provide an example?

Golf-course designers have become concerned that old courses are becoming obsolete since new technology has given golfers the ability to hit the ball so far. Designers, therefore, have proposed that new golf courses need to be built expecting that the average golfer can hit the ball more than 235 yards on average. Suppose a random sample of 118 golfers be chosen so that their mean driving distance is 239.8 yards, with a standard deviation of 43.6. Conduct a hypothesis test where H0:μ=235 and H1:μ>235 by computing the following:
(a) test statistic?
(b) p-value?
(c) If this was a two-tailed test, then the p-value is?

Alex is a carpenter who purchased a vacant block of land in Sydney on 1 October 1980. On 1 September 1986, Alex built a house on the land. At the time, the land was valued at $110,000 and the cost of construction was $100,000. Immediately, after the construction finished, the property has been rented out. On 1 March 2019, Alex sold the property at auction for $1,400,000. With reference to relevant legislation/case law determine: (A) Alex’s net capital gain or net capital loss for the year ended 30 June 2019 using both Discount method and Indexation method. (B) How would your answer to (A) differ if the owner of the property was a company instead of Alex?

Say I have and Array so MyArray starts off as S A Q W A R .... I want to sort the Array alphabetically using ascii codes to sort. However in Ascii code capital letters come first and then lower case letters are sorted after. My goal is to not only sort the array, but also make lowercase sorted in its proper place. I am using visual basics and I cant use a built in sorter that does it the easy way, I have to sort it somehow in visual basics. please help me learn how todo this! Will rate very highly, thanks so much!

Write a program that reads a string from the user, and creates another string with the letters from in reversed order. You should do this using string concatenation and loops. Do not use any method from Java that does the work for you. The reverse string must be built. Do not just print the letters in reversed order. Instead, concatenate them in a string.
--- Sample run: This program will create a string with letters in reversed order. Enter a string: banana The reversed string is: ananab Bye --- Sample run: This program will create a string with letters in reversed order. Enter a string: what the heck The reversed string is: kceh eht tahw Bye

COMPLETE IN EXCEL SHOWING EQUATIONS
Variable Growth Valuation Model Given:
Most recent annual cash flow (CFo) $1,000
Stage 1 annual growth rate (gt) 0.15
Stage 2 annual growth rate (gm) 0.05
Duration of stage 1 growth (years) 3
Required return (k) 0.10
Steps in solution:
1) Estimate future cash flows for the duration of the stage 1 growth period:
CF(0) = given $1,000
CF(1) = CF(0) * (1+gt) $1,150
CF(2) = CF(1) * (1+gt) $1,323
CF(3) = CF(2) * (1+gt) $1,521
2) Use EXCEL's built-in NPV function to find the present value of these cash flows.
RATE 0.10
NPV (rate, CF1:CF3) $3,281.09
3) Use the constant growth formula to estimate the value of the firm at the end of the rapid growth period (V3) where:
CF4 = CF3 (1+gm)
CF4 = $1,597
V3 = $1,597 / (0.10-0.05)
Ve = $31,938
4) Use EXCEL's built-in PV function to find the present value of the amount determined in step 3.
FV $31,938
RATE 0.10
NPER 3
PV ($23,996)
(You may ignore the negative sign for this answer. Recall that EXCEL mandates that the amounts entered for PV and FV must have opposite signs.)
5) Add the amounts found in step 2 (the PV of the rapid growth cash flows ) and step 4 (the PV of the normal growth cash flows).
PV of rapid growth cash flows $3,281
PV of normal growth cash flows $23,996
value of the firm $27,277
