Sociology:
Imagine that you are a reader of a newspaper that has a section that allows ‘letters to the editor.’ (This is where readers are able to write and submit a short article arguing for some point of view). Three such hypothetical letters are below. Imagine that you are writing a response to these letters. Write a response in which you use your social psychology knowledge to argue against the letter writer.
(1) I am writing to discuss the recent incident in which 12 teenagers were caught smoking marijuana at a party. These kids seem to be blaming it on everything but themselves: ‘Peer pressure’ is their latest excuse – as if other people could cause people to engage in illegal activities! I am appalled at this behavior – these kids should be thrown in jail to be taught a lesson. This just confirms my beliefs that teenagers are nothing but trouble. Why can’t people behave like moral human beings? What has happened to personal responsibility in this country? I’ve never been in trouble with the law (other than one time I was caught speeding – but that was different – I was late for a very important meeting and I had no choice!). This generation simply doesn’t care about what’s right or wrong anymore. -Marie Lamont

1.The Celestar 8 telescope available in the Physics Lab is described on Blackboard. The primary mirror of a Celestar 8 has an aperture of 203 mm, and the secondary mirror that blocks the primary mirror has a diameter of 70 mm. The focal length of the primary mirror is 2032 mm. Using this information calculate the following:
a) [2 marks] The fraction of the incoming light blocked by the secondary mirror.
b) [3 marks] The light gathering power of the Celestar 8 telescope, relative to the human eye with a pupil size of 7 mm, in each of these cases: i) Taking into account that the secondary mirror blocks some of the incoming light. ii) Ignoring the blockage of light by the secondary mirror.
c) [2 marks] The resolution of the telescope under ideal conditions (no air turbulence) measured in seconds of arc. Assume that you are observing with the visible wavelength of 550 nm.
d) [2 marks] The diameter, in metres, of the smallest crater that you can observe on the Moon’s surface with the Celestar 8 telescope, assuming ideal seeing conditions (no atmospheric turbulence), visible light with wavelength 550 nm, and the distance to the Moon found on the course formula sheet.
e) [1 mark] The magnification of the Celestar 8 telescope if a 15 mm focal length eyepiece is used.

Write a response in your opinion
Deontological ethics: "in philosophy, ethical theories that place special emphasis on the relationship between duty and the morality of human actions." (Encyclopidia Britannica, 2018).
Kantian ethics: Believed that it was our will to do the right thing. As the phrase goes "The Goodwill" meaning that anything we do can be used for good or bad, the goodwill must be good within itself.
Natural Law Theory: Descended from the theorist Thomas Aquinas, he believed that god pre-loaded us with all the tools we need to know whats right.
Divine command theory: the belief of what is moral and what is immoral is commanded by the divine whether it be some gods or one god. The foundation of this ethical theory is the god. If you need an answer to something, "ask God. This theory believes that morality itself comes from God."
What the similarities between the three schools of thought all have in common is the belief of what is right in our eyes. They all pertain to the specific decisions of what us as humans would consider right from wrong and good from bad. It also relates to one another because they all pertain to the morality of good/ bad or right/wrong.

Note: For the resource-based questions, please use the following definitions for the four categories of resources: Physical (property, plant, equipment, technology, intellectual property, etc.), Human (key people at all levels, their judgment, skills, knowledge, etc.), Organizational (culture, structure, processes, relationships, partnerships, etc.), and Financial (retained earnings, cash, access to capital markets, bonds, etc.)
Also recall that a resource is Valuable to the degree it helps a firm raise revenues or lower costs. It is Rare to the degree that it is possessed by fewer firms in the industry or sector. It is Inimitable (difficult to imitate) to the degree that costs and/time associated with acquiring the resource are high. And it is Well-organized to the degree that it is aligned and complementary to the firms other resources.
DC, which is Marvel’s long-time rival, happened on an innovation--a team of superheroes called The Justice League--which became “a surprise hit.” Marvel responded with a team of its own—the Fantastic Four. Assume that these new ensembles represented some kind of resource for both Marvel and DC and that result was increase sales and profits. Which statement of the following statements is most accurate?
Group of answer choices

It is under Human Behaviour in Organisation
Pls do not handwrite the answer, this is for easy reading
Question:
5b) I 1980, David Kipnis and his colleagues revealed how people influence each other in the organization. Statistical refinements and replications by other researchers over a 13- year period eventually yielded 9 influence tactics. Identify and describe the 9 influence tactics and rank them in diminishing order of use in the workplace.
5C) Josh has a history of not staying for long in any job and he's having difficulties at his current job as well. He routinely comes to work 10-20 minutes late and his breaks last for at least 30 minutes, while everyone else takes a 15-minute break. In the game of craps, a pass line bet proceeds as follows: Two six-sided dice are rolled; the first roll of the dice in a craps round is called the “come out roll.” A come out roll of 7 or 11 automatically wins, and a come out roll of 2, 3, or 12 automatically loses. If 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 is rolled on the come out roll, that number becomes “the point.” The player keeps rolling the dice until either 7 or the point is rolled. If the point is rolled first, then the player wins the bet. If a 7 is rolled first, then the player loses. Write a program that simulates a game of craps using these rules without human input. Instead of asking for a wager, the program should calculate whether the player would win or lose. The program should simulate rolling the two dice and calculate the sum. Add a loop so that the program plays 10,000 games. Add counters that count how many times the player wins and how many times the player loses. At the end of the 10,000 games, compute the probability of winning [i.e., Wins / (Wins + Losses)] and output this value. Over the long run, who is going to win the most games, you or the house?

Felix Baumgartner, an Austrian skydiver and daredevil, made history’s highest and fastest jump. After ascending to more than 128,000 feet in capsule tethered to a helium balloon, Baumgartner jumped and became the first human to break the sound barrier as he fell at a rate of 833 miles per hour and had a free-fall of more than 4 minutes.
The event was sponsored and funded by Red Bull – a company known for pushing the envelope of crazy and risky sports. The company doesn’t consider this a stunt though, preferring to characterize the program as a professional flight test program. Red Bull spent more than five years on the project with an expert staff of scientists, engineers, and physicians – many of whom had experience with NASA programs. The cost to Red Bull has not been disclosed, but estimates on the return to the company in regards to visibility, branding, and goodwill tops $8 billion.
Why do companies sponsor events – oftentimes events that seem to have little to do with their products?
What do companies gain? What do they risk?
How does the Stratos project fit with the Red Bull brand and target market? How does it fit with other promotional tools used by Red Bull?
