  1. Strengths: What makes you unique? What makes you the best at what you do?
  2. Opportunities: What benefits do you bring to a prospective employer?
  3. Aspirations: What kind of long-term difference do you want to make in your industry?

  • I have an eye for detail which ensures that I do not miss any important information and corresponding action can be taken. I am very hard working and do not shy away from taking responsibilities. I am best at delegating and managing work so that deadlines are met.
  • The benefits that I would bring to the prospective employer is I can introduce innovative methods to solve the problems that can save the company cost and resources. Also, I can manage team effectively so that the long-term objectives of the company are also met.
  • I would want them to move from manual work to automated system of working so that they can save time and cost, I would want to start with my own department and later on it can be scaled up for the entire company.
  • Accomplishments that the potential employers be excited about would be the final year project that I have done which have included innovative ways of solving problems and the same can be replicated in the company operations. Also, my academic record is also worth noting.

Employers are attracted to those who can add value and if you provide specific results, it’s more convincing. Does that make sense?

One of the ways to identify your transferrable skills is to reflect on past achievements. Below, list 3 achievements that you think were key contributions, accomplishments or peak experiences, and use the STAR technique to explain and expand on your answers. (Click the video listed below to learn more about the STAR technique and what employers want, and how you can use it during an interview)

  1. Give the Situation (provide context and background);
  2. Explain the Task (Describe problem/challenges);
  3. Provide your Actions (Explain what you did and how);
  4. Give the Results(State outcomes, savings, recognition, etc.).
    • At the end of your example, list the skills you gained or developed.

      Expand on your answers. For example, rather than “I responded to a customer complaint,” you might write “I greeted a customer at my last internship, I listened attentively to their complaint, then I asked questions to determine the exact nature of the problem, next, I discussed possible remedies and contacted my department head. We both gathered information, and the result was we resolved customer problem, leading to a frequent return customer.”

A red ball is thrown down with an initial speed of 1.3 m/s from a height of 27 meters above the ground. Then, 0.5 seconds after the red ball is thrown, a blue ball is thrown upward with an initial speed of 24.8 m/s, from a height of 0.7 meters above the ground. The force of gravity due to the earth results in the balls each having a constant downward acceleration of 9.81 m/s2.

1) What is the speed of the red ball right before it hits the ground?

m/s

Your submissions:

  • 23

Computed value:

23

Submitted:

Correct!

2) How long does it take the red ball to reach the ground?

s

Your submissions:

  • 2.2

Computed value:

2.2

Submitted:

Correct!

3)

What is the maximum height the blue ball reaches?

m

Your submissions:

  • 32.07

Computed value:

32.07

Submitted:

Correct!

4) What is the height of the blue ball 2 seconds after the red ball is thrown?

5) How long after the red ball is thrown are the two balls in the air at the same height?

6) Which statement is true regarding the blue ball?

After it is released and before it hits the ground, the blue ball is always moving faster than the red ball at any given time.

After it is released and before it hits the ground, the blue ball is sometimes moving faster than the red ball at any given time.

After it is released and before it hits the ground, the blue ball is never moving faster than the red ball at any given time.

7) Which statement is true about the red ball?

The acceleration is positive and it is speeding up

The acceleration is negative and it is speeding up

The acceleration is positive and it is slowing down

The acceleration is negative and it is slowing down

A recent study on state income tax payments found that the average person paid $7,500 each year with a standard deviation of $250.20. After multiple propositions by local experts, a change was implemented to reduce this tax burden. Suppose a random sample of 240 people was taken after the proposed changes and these individuals exhibited a mean tax payment of $7,425.

  1. What would a 95% confidence interval for the population mean be? [Show your code in “R Code” section. Show the answer in “Answer” section. Leave “Comments” section blank.]
  2. What would it suggest with regards to whether they have properly reduced the tax burden? Why? [Leave “R Code” and “Answer” sections blank. Include the phrase “reduced” or “did not reduce” along with a justification in a few sentences in “Comments” section.]

Is $1 Million Enough to Retire?

It surely sounds like a lot, but once you do all the math, you might be sadly surprised.

This headline is from a recent popular business publication. The answer as to how much you need to retire can be calculated using the time value of money tools we have covered so far. Your post should describe in detail what steps you would take to calculate the amount needed. Remember to state what time value tools you should use. Once you have posted, you will be able to see what others have included in their steps. Your follow up post should compare your steps with those from someone else and what needs to change in either one to get the correct result.

One of the week’s themes has been the human tendency to blindly follow rather than to resist injustice. Considering the world in the twenty-first century, what is a recent or current example of injustice and in what ways have we either failed to question, critique, challenge, and resist that injustice, or alternately, in what ways has active questioning, challenging, critiquing, and resisting rectified an injustice? Be specific and use as much detail as possible to explain your choice.
