Expanding Gregory’s – Greg and John has owned Gregory’s Greek Restaurant for over thirty years. The restaurant overlooks a river and offers visitors a lovely view of the countryside. Over the years, the restaurant’s popularity has grown through word-of-mouth advertising, and now guest often wait up to two hours on the weekend before being seated. Greg and John have been approached by Capstone Developers, which wants to use the Gregory’s Greek Restaurant concept in a mixed-use development it is putting together. It seems that one of Capstone’s managers ate at Gregory’s and loved the concept. Capstone Developers put together an investment proposal for Greg and Andy requesting to use their concept and cash equity for the deal.

The following are excerpts from the offer:
· Use of the Gregory Greek Restaurant name in exchange for limited partnership units in the new restaurant.
· A request for a 45% equity investment from Greg and John on the total project cost of $3,000,000. In return for their investment, they will receive 25% ownership and 25% of all cash flows, with Capstone reserving 75%.
· With an estimated $175,000 in cash flows in Year 1 and a 10% growth rate over the next decade, the return on equity looks very promising.
· Capstone Developers, as the general partner, will retain all operating rights, including the right to decide when the restaurant and property will be sold.

Identify and explain the positive and negative aspects of the proposal business entity for Greg and John

Care super insurance company has 150 computers that are networked together. It also has four servers and uses a star topology wired network to reach employees' offices, with a bus interconnecting four floors in its office building. Because of a staggering influx of Internet business, the network administrator's task is to boost network performance and availability as much as
possible. The company also wants a network design that's easy to reconfigure and change because workgroups form and disband frequently and their membership changes regularly. All computers must share sensitive data and control access to customer files and databases. Aside from customer information and billing databases, which run on all servers, employees' desktop computers must run standard word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
Use the following write-on lines to evaluate the requirements for this network. After you finish, determine the best network topology or topology combination for the company. On a blank piece of paper, sketch the network design you think best suits company needs. Remember: High performance and easy reconfiguration are your primary design goals!
a. Design a Network topology for the given scenario.
b. Will the network be peer-to-peer or server based? Justify your answer.
c. Analyse business goals for this network.
d. Analyse business priorities for this network.
e. Investigate business constraints for this network.

Your task for this assignment is use the Java Canvas and Graphics classes to create an example of a computer generated image. This is an opportunity for you to explore computer graphics and exercise some individual creativity.

You should submit well-documented code, and once your program is done, create a presentation of your program. The presentation can be a PowerPoint or Word document, or something created with similar software. It could be a PDF file.

Tell us what your prject is and how it works. Consider briefly discussing what happened in the process of exploration and design for your project? How does your code work? How did you use other features of Java, such as branching routines or loops in your work? Tell us about the thoughts behind your finished work. What influenced your work?

Your work can be as simple or as complex as you would like, but be careful about taking on something that will be too time consuming. If you decide to work on figurative art, It might help to start with a single idea or concept, such as snowfall in the city, or along the Schuylkill. Abstract or figurative art can both be static or dynamic. Imagine how, for example, the Bedroom Window example at the end of this chapter could be subtly dynamic by havng flashing lights or twinkling stars.

Ask me if you are not sure about something or if you run into trouble.

Your finished image for this project should be suitable for a general audience.

The five generic strategies were formulated by Michael Porter in 1980. His book Competitive Strategy is widely seen as the founding publication of business strategy. Most of what we treat as having significance in the field can be traced to one of Porter's publications.

Instructions

This week, reflect on your experiences with these generic strategies. Consider how they are applied in your businesses. In particular, examine successes and failures. What worked well and what did not? What were the circumstances surrounding these experiences? The goal is to develop some sense of the conditions under which each of the generic strategies might be successful or would likely fail. You will address the strategies in two separate discussions this week. Be sure to address each of the following in this discussion:

Strategy 1: Best-Cost Provider Definition: Giving customers more value for their money by incorporating good-to-excellent product attributes at a lower cost than rivals; the target is to have the lowest (best) costs and prices compared to rivals offering products with comparable attributes.

Strategy 2: Focused Differentiation Strategy Definition: Concentrating on a narrow buyer segment and outcompeting rivals by offering niche members customized attributes that meet their tastes and requirements better than rivals' products. Reflect on how the course material plays out in your organization or organizations with which you are familiar.
