You are the financial manager of Walnut Grove City, a small mid-eastern town, and in charge of creating a capital budget for the next year. The only project on the agenda is building a clock tower within the city square and expanding the adjacent park for small events. You must incorporate into the budget the expense of building a clock tower in the city's town square and adjacent park, and may choose the size, exact location and materials to be used. The expense for the clock tower is estimated to be $400,000 and clean-up of the adjacent park is estimated to be $50,000. After the expansion, three events are planned: 1. Street party celebrating the new clock tower and park which will continue as an anniversary party every year thereafter, and is expected to have a net income of $75,000; 2. Fourth of July fireworks celebration with expected net income of $125,000; and 3. Labor Day carnival to celebrate going back to school and harvest which is expected to have a net income of $50,000. All three events will be continued each following year.

The mayor of a town has proposed a plan for the annexation of a new bridge. A political study took a sample of 900 voters in the town and found that 66% of the residents favored annexation. Using the data, a political strategist wants to test the claim that the percentage of residents who favor annexation is over 62%. Testing at the 0.02 level, is there enough evidence to support the strategist's claim?
Step 1 of 6: State the null and alternative hypotheses.
Step 2 of 6: Find the value of the test statistic. Round your answer to two decimal places.
Step 3 of 6: Specify if the test is one-tailed or two-tailed.
Step 4 of 6: Determine the decision rule for rejecting the null hypothesis, H0.
Step 5 of 6: Make the decision to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis.
Step 6 of 6: State the conclusion of the hypothesis test.

Exe plc is considering an acquisition of Wye plc. Both companies are entirely equity financed. Relevant information is as follows:
Exe
Number of shares 16,250,000 Share price £18.00

Abstract: Using the Stochastic Frontier Approach (SFA), this study investigates the cost and profit efficiency effects of bank mergers on the US banking industry. We also use the non‐parametric technique of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to evaluate the production structure of merged and non‐merged banks. The empirical results indicate that mergers have improved the cost and profit efficiencies of banks. Further, evidence shows that merged banks have lower costs than non‐merged banks because they are using the most efficient technology available (technical efficiency) as well as a cost minimizing input mix (allocative efficiency). The results suggest that there is an economic rational for future mergers in the banking industry. Finally, mergers may allow the banking industry to take advantage of the opportunities created by improved technology.

On the second day of eighth grade, an older girl shoved
Emily into the road. Thinking she was playing, Emily shoved her
back. Rumors began circulating within the school, and Emily gained
a reputation as being aggressive. The older girl was part of a
group of girls who continued to spread rumors about Emily; they
also began stalking her during gym class. Some of the teachers,
believing the rumors about Emily, accused her of bullying the other
girl, and cautioned her parents about her behavior.
Roughly once every 2 weeks, Emily's parents would meet with the
principal to try to convince him that Emily was the victim. No one
in authority admitted that bullying existed at the school. Nothing
was done.
For 3 years, the bullying continued with silent phone calls,
threats, and occasional physical incidents. Each time after Emily
or her parents complained, the teachers would glare at her in the
hallway. After the bully graduated, the rest of the group of girls
continued the bullying. Once, when they cornered Emily against the
wall, a teacher approached them and threatened Emily with further
punishment if she continued her behavior. The teacher then sent the
other girls back to class.
By Day 4
Post an explanation of how SCT or social networks and social supports might explain the bullying behavior in the case study. Then explain how the bullying behavior might be addressed within the framework of the theory or model you selected. Support your response with specific references to the Learning Resources.
