Pine rockland is an endangered ecosystem found only in South Florida. Invasive plant species threaten pine rockland by out competing the native plants and providing no nutritional value to native wildlife. The largest tract of pine rockland in Everglades National Park is at Long Pine Key. Scientists with the National Park Service are interested in knowing how effective different frequencies of prescribed burns are at removing invasive plant species. They measured the density (individuals/m2) of invasive plant species in an area that was not burned (no burn), an area that was burned once in the last 5 years (infrequent burn), and an area that was burned 5 times in the last 5 years (frequent burns). For each area, sampling was conducted by measuring the density at 20 random points.

Based on observations of these three areas and the need to decrease invasive species in these ecosystems, we could put forth the following question: How does the frequency of prescribed burns affect invasive plant species in pine rockland ecosystems?

  1. For the study above, identify the following: (4 points)
    1. Population: All invasive Plant species in Pine Rockland Ecosystem.
    2. Sample: 20 random points in each area
    3. Parameter:
    4. Statistics
  2. For the study above, identify the following: (3 points)
    1. Dependent Variable
    2. Independent Variable
    3. Is the independent variable categorical or numerical?

Melissa recently paid $610 for round-trip airfare to San Francisco to attend a business conference for three days. Melissa also paid the following expenses: $385 fee to register for the conference, $335 per night for three nights’ lodging, $300 for meals, and $175 for cab fare.

a. What amount of the travel costs can Melissa deduct as business expenses?

b. Suppose that while Melissa was on the coast, she also spent two days sightseeing the national parks in the area. To do the sightseeing, she paid $1,660 for transportation, $910 for lodging, and $375 for meals during this part of her trip, which she considers personal in nature. What amount of the travel costs can Melissa deduct as business expenses?

c. Suppose that Melissa’s permanent residence and business was located in San Francisco. She attended the conference in San Francisco and paid $385 for the registration fee. She drove 75 miles over the course of three days and paid $170 for parking at the conference hotel. In addition, she spent $475 for breakfast and dinner over the three days of the conference. She bought breakfast on the way to the conference hotel and she bought dinner on her way home each night from the conference. What amount of these costs can Melissa deduct as business expenses?

A) A person can take either of two routes to work, through Matteson or Richton Park. Both take on average 35 minutes, and travel times are Normally distributed. But are the variances of the travel times different? A random sample with n = 6 using the Matteson route, and another random sample with n = 7 using the Richton Park route, showed a variance of 40 (units: square minutes) and 30 respectively. To test whether the variances are different, the following test of hypothesis is to be carried out: H0: sigma subscript 1 superscript 2 space equals space sigma subscript 2 superscript 2 H1: sigma subscript 1 superscript 2 space not equal to space sigma subscript 2 superscript 2 To test this at 10% level of significance, what is the critical value for the test statistic? (Give two decimal places)

B) A supermarket claims that the average wait time at the checkout counter is less than 9 minutes. We can assume that the population is Normally distributed.

Consider

H0: mu >= 9

H1: mu < 9

A random sample of 50 customers yielded an average wait time of 8.5 minutes and a standard deviation of 2.5 minutes.

What is the value of the test statistic (tstat or t-sub-xbar)?

(Provide two decimal places)

(Practical magnetism) As we will see in lab, the magnitude ?? of the magnetic field of a permanent magnet drops with distance d so that ?? ∝ 1/? 2 when d is less than the size of the magnet (where you “feel” only the closest pole) but ?? ∝ 1/? 3 farther away (where both poles “blur together” and the field is weaker). (a) Could a coin-sized magnet in your wallet or purse erase the magnetic strip on your credit card or hotel room key? Suppose the magnet is 2 mm thick, and measure d from its center. Consider both a fridge magnet (?? = 5 mT at the surface) and a neodymium coin magnet (?? = 1 T at the surface). To erase a magnetic strip requires 4000 G for a “high-coercivity” (“HiCo”) card such as a credit card, but only 300 G for a “low-coercivity” (“LoCo”) card such as a hotel room key. (b) If so, how far apart should you keep them? (c) Could wearing a “magnetic stone” (with field strength comparable to a fridge magnet) affect your health? To answer this, ask yourself whether people’s health is affected by the Earth’s magnetic field, of strength about 0.2 G? At what distance from the stone do you experience this same field strength?

(must be done in JAVA code)

A company dedicated to parking management has decided to renew itself by automating its control process since this process is done manually. The company has hired its development team to automate the process and gave it an October 19th deadline until 6 pm. An analyst defined the system requirements as follows:

1. The system must allow configuring the number of spaces that a vehicle parking lot will contain.

2. The system must allow the person in charge (normally a security person) to consult the available spaces to be able to indicate to the arriving users where to park.

3. The system must allow the person in charge (normally a security person) to enter the space where they will park, the license plate, brand, color and commercial value of the vehicle to be parked. In some cases, the person in charge may omit the commercial value of the vehicle due to ignorance, for these cases a default value of 30 million will be saved.

4. The system must allow the status of all the spaces in the building to be consulted.

5. The system must allow printing all the information of the parked vehicles.

6. The system must allow consulting the information of a parked vehicle.

7. The system must be able to change the sensor status (available to occupied) when a car occupies a parking space.

Overproduction of uric acid in the body can be an indication of cell breakdown. This may be an advance indication of illness such as gout, leukemia, or lymphoma.† Over a period of months, an adult male patient has taken six blood tests for uric acid. The mean concentration was x = 5.35 mg/dl. The distribution of uric acid in healthy adult males can be assumed to be normal, with σ = 1.93 mg/dl.

(a) Find a 95% confidence interval for the population mean concentration of uric acid in this patient's blood. What is the margin of error? (Round your answers to two decimal places.

lower limit
upper limit
margin of error

(d) Find the sample size necessary for a 95% confidence level with maximal margin of error E = 1.02 for the mean concentration of uric acid in this patient's blood. (Round your answer up to the nearest whole number blood tests.

Let x be a random variable that represents the weights in kilograms (kg) of healthy adult female deer (does) in December in a national park. Then x has a distribution that is approximately normal with mean μ = 52.0 kg and standard deviation σ = 8.5 kg. Suppose a doe that weighs less than 43 kg is considered undernourished.

(a) What is the probability that a single doe captured (weighed and released) at random in December is undernourished? (Round your answer to four decimal places.)

(b) If the park has about 2450 does, what number do you expect to be undernourished in December? (Round your answer to the nearest whole number.)
does

(c) To estimate the health of the December doe population, park rangers use the rule that the average weight of n = 45 does should be more than 49 kg. If the average weight is less than 49 kg, it is thought that the entire population of does might be undernourished. What is the probability that the average weight x for a random sample of 45 does is less than 49 kg (assuming a healthy population)? (Round your answer to four decimal places.)

(d) Compute the probability that x< 53.4 kg for 45 does (assume a healthy population). (Round your answer to four decimal places.)

Writing Assignment is to develop marketing mix strategies to ensure a value offering for my the target market "Kids and kids grown up futuristic fantasy Park" service for Walt Disney Need to answer the below questions any input will be appreciate

Offering. Describe your product or service offering as it is currently in terms of features and benefits, price and the total cost of ownership as discussed in the week's readings. Is it more product dominant or service dominant? What are the tangible and intangible aspects?

Type of consumer offering. Based on the four categories of type of offerings discussed in course content, describe the category in which your product or service offering belongs. Based on your new target market, would that category of the offering change and if so, how? How would it change the marketing strategy?

Product line extensions or new product development. Should the current product or service be modified to more fully meet the needs of your new target market? Would the changes constitute a new product line, a product line extension or a new product? If no product changes are needed, how does the same product or service meet the need of your target market differently than current customers? Would the product line extension or new product allow the offering to occupy uncontested space in the perceptual map for the target market as covered in thr previous paper?

Product lifecycle. In which stage of the product lifecycle is your product or service offering now? Would the changes described in number 3 above change the lifecycle stage and if so how? What would this mean to the lifecycle marketing strategy?
