When the duration gap is negative, it means that the duration of assets < duration of liabilities, so liabilities are more sensitive than assets to interest rate changes. My understanding of this is, that if interest rates fall, you pay less on liabilities, and so income would increase....but then why would equity decrease? Wouldn't equity increase?

I'm also confused as to why a negative gap would mean that a rise in interest rates makes equity increase and why a positive gap would mean a decrease in equity with interest rate increases

Spain and England were the first two countries to have explorers circumnavigate the globe. Spain accomplished the first voyage around the world under the leadership of Ferdinand Magellan in 1522. The English voyage, led by Sir Francis Drake, was completed in 1580 (Drake’s expedition was actually the third to circumnavigate the earth as another Spanish crew had completed the journey in the interim). This essay assignment provides you with the opportunity to read about and study firsthand accounts of these incredible voyages in an effort to understand the great changes taking place during this period of history.

Why do the voltage and current in the pickup coil cycle between negative and positive? Explain in detail using Faraday’s Law. Remember, Lenz’s Law is part of Faraday’s Law! Although it will not be covered explicitly in this class, this is known as alternating current.

a. How the magnetic flux through the loop changes as the magnet rotates (is the flux maximal when the magnet is horizontal or vertical on the screen? Why?)

b. How this changing magnetic flux works to create an emf (potential difference) in the coil which alternates over time (use the Faraday’s law equation)

In a test of the effectiveness of garlic for lowering cholesterol, 45 subjects were treated with garlic in a processed tablet form. Cholesterol levels were measured before and after the treatment. The changes in their levels of LDL cholesterol (in mg/dL) have a mean of 4.1 and a standard deviation of 18.6

Construct a 90% confidence interval estimate of the mean net change in LDL cholesterol after the garlic treatment. What does the confidence interval suggest about the effectiveness of garlic in reducing LDL cholesterol?

What is the confidence interval estimate of the population mean μ?
