4) Last year we went to Zanvoort Circuit Park in North Holland to retest how many laps women and men drivers could do in half an hour. Historical data available gave us a basis for standard deviations of 3.5 and 2.63 laps, respectively Use men pilots as  x̄1. Below are the summaries of our new findings:

(INCLUDE SKETCH) (ROUND 5 DECIMAL PLACES)

Laps/30 minutes Mean SD n
Women Pilots 17.91 3.39 50
Men Pilots 19.39 2.52 50

a) Find a 95% confidence interval for the difference here. Explain the meaning of the results.

b) Now perform the appropriate hypothesis test, and explain your results.

Donald smith is a 37 year old white , fair skinned, blue eyed park ranger who enjoys fishing and skiing. He comes to the clinic for evaluation of a changing mole.

subjective data
*History of a mole on his left cheek from birth that has become hard, scaly and lumpy over the last 3 months
* father and sister treated for malignant melanoma in the last 10 years
* Anxious that the mole might be cancer and require surgery

objective data

* Has a 6mm nevus blue black in color, scalloped with vaguely defined borders
* Two dysplastic nevi found on neck

diagnostic studies

1. what risk factors for malignant melanoma does this client have ?
2. what is the prognosis with this stage of malignant melanoma?
3. what would the nurse include in a patient teaching plan to address further sun exposure to this patient?
4. what is the priority of care for this client?

The left-field wall at a baseball park is 320 feet down the third-base line from home plate; the wall itself is 38 feet high. A batted ball must clear the wall to be a home run. Suppose a ball leaves the bat, 3 feet off the ground, at an angle of 45degrees. Use gequals32 ft/sec squared as the acceleration due to gravity and ignore any air resistance. Complete parts (a) through (d). (a) Find parametric equations that model the position of the ball as a function of time. (b) What is the maximum height of the ball if it leaves the bat with a speed of 120 miles per hour? Give your answer in feet. (c) What is the ball's horizontal distance from home plate at its maximum height? Give your answer in feet. (d) If the ball is hit straight down the third-base line, will it clear the wall? If it does, by how many feet does it clear the wall?

I often see many more women at the park exercising than I do men. Due to my observations, I believe that women exercise more often than men. In order to test my hypothesis, I asked 10 random men and 10 random women how many times they exercise a week. The men's answers were: 6, 2, 3, 1, 4, 3, 2, 7, 4, 2, and the women's were: 5, 4, 2, 4, 7, 6, 5, 6, 4, 3. Is there significant evidence to conclude that the average number of days exercised in a week for women is higher than that of men? Please calculate at a 95% Confidence Interval.

You visit a national park with your friend one weekend. You encounter an old railroad tunnel which is very dark and you are not sure if the tunnel is blocked on the other end. You happen to have a frequency generator app on your cell phone frequency. You decide that to generate resonances in the tunnel with your app. You hear successive resonances at 55Hz, 57.5 Hz, 60Hz, 62.5 Hz …etc. (I) Can you use this information alone to determine if the tunnel opened or closed at the other end? (II) What is the length of the tunnel? (III) What is the maximum number of resonances you can produce in this tunnel between 50 Hz and 100 Hz?   Use 343.0 m/s for the speed of sound in air. (

Much of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is over 12,000 feet high. Although it is a beautiful drive in summer months, in winter the road is closed because of severe weather conditions. Sustained gale-force winds (over 32 miles per hour and often over 90 miles per hour) occur on the average of 0.7 times every 56 hours at a Trail Ridge Road weather station.

(a) Let r = frequency with which gale-force winds occur in a given time interval. Explain why the Poisson probability distribution would be a good choice for the random variable r.

1) Frequency of gale-force winds is a common occurrence. It is reasonable to assume the events are independent.

2) Frequency of gale-force winds is a rare occurrence. It is reasonable to assume the events are dependent.

3) Frequency of gale-force winds is a common occurrence. It is reasonable to assume the events are dependent.

4) Frequency of gale-force winds is a rare occurrence. It is reasonable to assume the events are independent.

(b) For an interval of 106 hours, what are the probabilities that r = 2, 3, and 4? What is the probability that r < 2? (Use 2 decimal places for λ. Use 4 decimal places for your answers.)

Case Scenario Mr Park is a heart patient who had a heart bypass recently. He has been the sole breadwinner in the family but ever since his heart bypass, he is not able to continue working. His wife is a homemaker and also his main caregiver. The couple has three children. Eldest son Ethan (aged 32), has recently gotten married and moved out. His relationship with his parents is amicable. However, he still relies heavily on his parents for financial support, as his employment is not stable. This creates a huge amount of stress on both Mr and Mrs Park as they themselves are worried about their financial situation, especially after Mr Park's heart bypass. Youngest son Mark (aged 18) is closest to the mother. He suffers from social phobia and does not attend school. His symptoms started around the time of Mr Park's discharge from hospital. He is of age to be enlisted for National Service (NS), but he might not be able to go through military training due to his psychological condition. Mindful of his condition, the parents give him a lot of space and make no demands of him. He plays computer games at home most of the time. Their second daughter Jill (aged 26) is currently the sole breadwinner of the family. She works as an administrative assistant and contributes some money to her parents. When she was 19, she quit university after her first semester and decided to start working because she felt that her eldest brother was continuing to rely on parents for financial support. She often will feel very angry that her parents depend on her so much and do not seem to insist that her eldest brother contribute. She also feels that her parents are over protective of her younger brother. There are constant quarrels between both patient and his wife over the issues of the children and also over care for him, at times escalating into shouting marathons. Two weeks ago, tired of all the fighting, they decided to stop talking altogether. Now, they are no longer quarrelling or shouting at each other, but instead are locked in a "cold war”. Soo words Guiding Questions Read the case scenario above. For the purpose of the reflection, imagine that this is your family, and that you are another son/daughter in this family. • 1. What, in your opinion, is contributing to the family situation? 2. How would you respond as a member of this family? 3. Why would you respond in the way(s) stated for Question 2 above? Explain.
